if you played sonic the hedgehog and put down the controller, sonic would look at you and tap his foot impatiently. this was proof that sega genesis cartridges had souls. the decision was made to make the storage cases a lot larger than the cartridges so they would have room to move around in there

I switched from Samsung Android to iPhone some 13 years ago when I could not AirDrop pictures of the child to my wife, and the text message quality of the jpg & video from Android to iPhone was garbage. Good to see them adding it back in, 13+ years later

Ars Technica@arstechnica.com

After adding basic AirDrop support to Pixel 10 devices last year, Google says we can look forward to seeing it on many more phones in 2026.

Follow up fun: pausing the 13 streaming apps to watch the company mandated AI training which of course does not offer any closed captions

ever since I was a child, I knew I wanted to one day have 13 streaming apps, all of which hide the closed captioning options in a different place

Red Lobster never released a commercial with a jingle that went “Shrimply having a wonderful Fishmastime.” That’s why they went bankrupt.

Developers: Can you believe what ABC, CEO of DEF, has said? Me: Who? Developers: Check out what developer GHI has done! Me: Who? Developers: Company JKL released version X of the MNO library! Me: Who? What? I don't know if I'm old, out of touch with the tech community, or just living a happy life

One of the huge perks of working at a software company is, when there's something about the product that bothers you personally, you can get your hands dirty and find out why it's basically impossible to get fixed

Your package will be delivered sometime today. The driver has the package. The package is out. Oh you just left your house for a couple hours? The package was left outside your front door 5 minutes after you left…

I hate to seem like a huge complainer but FedEx tracking is the worst in the whole world

Your grandparents bought a house on a single income. You have a master's degree and three roommates. But at least you can summon any song ever recorded in 2 seconds, so it evens out?

We stopped shipping new JavaScript frameworks every week so now I guess we're shipping new AI browsers every week.

The prophets of the 1950s promised robot maids by 1990. The prophets of the 1990s promised virtual reality workplaces by 2010. The prophets of 2010 promised self-driving cars on every street by 2020. The prophets of 2020 promised On-Chain Everything. 8/22

This is the sort of insider tip life hack that I come to social media for. Like when another person noted I could brew 2 shots of espresso but put a cup under each side instead of making 1 shot and then another shot after ☕️

This might seem like a silly productivity tip, but it really comes in handy sometimes at work: Clone a 2nd copy of your repo. That's it. I've got /repo-name and /repo-name-2. Great for when you want 2 different branches up, or if you got a long process running in 1, you can work on the other.

AI agents being able to run unit tests is SUCH a massive unlock. If you're a dev who has utilized unit tests heavily: using a tool like Claude Code makes so much sense. And if you don't yet use tests: with AI agents, don't see how you would not do it sooner or later...

This is exactly right. It's happening about the internet itself, too. People are assigning false rose-colored nostalgia memories to the web, describing a "good old days" that elides how terrible and exclusionary the past eras of the internet were.

Mad Dr. Jimbosaur, Espooky.@jimbosaur.bsky.social

This whole Y2K Nostalgia feels really unique and strange to me, in that it's being driven almost entirely by Zoomers' imagined version of an era they're too young to remember, while everyone who was actually 13-22yo at the time is universally responding "no, don't bring that back, that sucked."
