Musk says not a single person has died due to him axing USAID. Sadly, part of my job involves tracking aid spending. So here’s a thread with just some of the people who lost their lives because of USAID cuts

Your daily reminder this should be the biggest scandal in American politics right now but nobody seems to care. Ken Paxton freed a man who raped a boy for 3 years. He also doesnt have to register as a sex offender. www.texastribune.org/2026/05/19/k...

texastribune.orgInside Ken Paxton’s plea deal for a child sex abuse caseCritics are pointing to two other serious felony cases that the attorney general’s prosecutors took to trial that ended in mistrials and, eventually, plea deals.

Yes, 100% For the record, being drunk also does not magically turn into a rapist/sexual aggressor.

Popehat@kenwhite.bsky.social

/2 Also: being drunk doesn’t make you a fucking bigot. Being drunk removes your social inhibitions about being an OPEN fucking bigot.

They are not smart, and yet, they are SOOOO confident 🙄

Bro it’s wild how all these geniuses just don’t read books. Like just unaware of basic, obvious counterarguments as they parrot fifth grade level white nationalist agitprop.

‪Doctors say that vaccines protect children from dangerous diseases. A nepo baby who barbecues dogs and snorts cocaine off toilet seats says that vaccines make children vulnerable to 5G radiation. For busy parents, it can be hard to know who to trust.

I’m running for Congress in NY-12, my home. We have a demented, criminal president running the country like a mob operation—government by the boss, for the boss. We need Democratic fighters who will defend the rule of law and deliver government by the people. Join us.

And please, PLEASE let us not forget that time in 2023 when Karen Smith was elected President of the school board in Bucks County, Pa and swore her oath on a stack of banned books. The most gangsta oath ever! Just brilliant. www.edweek.org/leadership/t...

Issa Rae has canceled her sold out performance at the Kennedy Center. Pulitzer Prize winner Rhiannon Giddens, Peter Wolf, Low Cut Connie, and the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, D.C., have also canceled. Lin-Manuel Miranda has canceled the entire Kennedy Center run of Hamilton.

Next time someone says they don’t have to apologize for being white anymore, ask them to tell about the most recent time they were forced to apologize for being white and who made them do it.

Such need for validation 🙄

And again, the problem isn't that white men are having trouble getting published now. They're more published than ever. The problem is, it's harder for them to be celebrated for it now. The problem was there at the start of the article that set me off. The problem is the applause.

Introducing:Things that Matter... Bad faith arguments to platform and legitimize truly abhorrent ideas. Episode 1 "Trans people: should we murder them or just continue to marginalize and bully them?" Join us for a reasoned debate.

CNN has a show with a similar line. That the problem with this country is we just aren’t talking to each other. It’s the kind of diagnosis that a toddler would land on.

What this underscores is a fundamental truth that while none of the rest of us need supremacists in our spaces, and are just fine without them, supremacists need the rest of us or they collapse against each other. Without them we're fine. Without us they've got nothing.

Gosh, why are the Democrats so unpopular with young people? Let's try taking another (goose)step to the right and see if that helps.

A.R. Moxon@juliusgoat.bsky.social

Poor dumb young people; indoctrinated by the evidence of their eyes and ears; living in a bubble of what is actually happening instead of here in the real world of billionaire donor events and funder dinners.

Difficult to remember in the moment, but if you have the thug straddling you trying to cuff you. Start yelling "OH my god, do you have an erection! Get this pervert off me. This guy has a boner, WTF!"

Josh Marshall@joshtpm.bsky.social

the one part of this awful video I found inspiring is the moment when the cam pans back and you see an array of upstanding Americans with their smartphones out filming these gutter thugs. that's really the symbol of the opposition. the smartphone and its embedded video cam.

President Trump has called for Democrats to be executed for sedition. The voters expect Democrats to come to the table with a real counter-proposal and negotiate a mutually acceptable compromise. That’s doing politics the right way. -Ezra Klein, New York TImes

We are where we are because of all the Democratic Party leaders in my life like Clinton, Biden, Obama, Schumer, and Pelosi choosing to align more and more with the GOP, Zionism, and right-wing fascism over the democratic socialists in THEIR OWN PARTY who organize, fundraise, and vote for them.

"In 2025, 40% of women aged 15 to 44 say they would move abroad permanently if they had the opportunity. The current figure is four times higher than the 10% who shared this desire in 2014, when it was generally in line with other age and gender groups."

"Mamdani didn't accomplish this by abandoning his support for marginalized people, which is the only path many highly placed Democrats, already ashamed as they are of the limited degree to which highly-placed Democrats have defended marginalized people, can imagine for capturing MAGAs"

Hey Christians. Anybody planning on getting raptured this week, this lapsed Catholic could sure use any spare cash that you won't be needing. Or, if you have a nice car... that would be cool as well.

It is fun to imagine, kind of like when you buy a lottery ticket and you can fantasize about what you might do with the money. But, ultimately, you know you will be disappointed and the fat SOB will turn up again spewing invective to his fucking awful followers again. And the dream will be over.

The new ICE song by Jesse Welles nails it. ICE isn’t recruiting heroes, it’s recruiting the bitter, the rejected, the ones desperate for a badge to cover their failures. Losers with power become the most dangerous kind. (c/o Caroline Codsi)

Not a big fan of GN, but I am very thankful for his flipping of the script.

1. You may have noticed something. I used to talk about the president’s dementia pretty regularly, but haven’t in months. That’s because I’ve lost faith. I used to believe the Washington press corps would see the plainly obvious. I no longer believe that. The hypocrisy is too baked in.

Fact check: true "Farritor was involved in downsizing or effectively closing a combined nine federal agencies in total. ... Handing it to a 23 year old libertarian who has trained himself not to see the value of government work is an indictment of how the GOP no longer cares about governing."

Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social

New, from me: Luke Farritor joined DOGE, answering the call of his "biggest hero" Elon Musk. His story reveals how the combination of know-nothing libertarianism combined with the political power of Silicon Valley is destroying our government. 🧵 donmoynihan.substack.com/p/doges-will...
