Show opens next week, come enjoy UFO 50 on an LX and experience the rest of the show (including Multibowl by Bennett Foddy and AP Thompson, which you can't really play outside of an event). There's an incredible exhibit on LGBTQ games from the Rainbow Arcade's Adrienne Shaw and Drexel's Ari Gass

Will share more next week, but if this is your shit and you're nearby, it's worth making the time. Gaming can be such a solitary pursuit; it's nice to see it elevated in a communal space usually reserved for high culture.

Cheap Week was one of the last projects I worked on at GameSpot -- lots of great ways into the theme here, including Tom's video below www.gamespot.com/articles/wel...

gamespot.comWelcome To GameSpot Cheap WeekGaming's gotten more expensive than ever. We're here to explain why and help you play more while spending less.

As a part of GameSpot’s cheap week, I looked into using the library to borrow games. Turns out, your local library might be WAAAAAAY better than any gaming subscription service, and it won’t cost you a dime. Full video: youtu.be/4jsYBULf-qc?...

I'm so pumped for this! (A rare game to get me to deal with in-game voice chat)

I think anyone would love Big Walk, but playing it with my kids and watching them work together the way this game demands was truly something special for me.

I podcaster'd -- thanks to @lucyjames.games @skillup.bsky.social @jakebaldino.com for letting me dish. ❤️

Friends Per Second Podcast@friendspersecond.bsky.social

This week on Friends Per Second, we’re joined by @charstring.com to ask the question: Is modern gaming totally cooked? It’s not all doom and gloom, we also discuss Black Flag, Denshattack!, and The Blood of Dawnwalker youtu.be/c9iLqBerD6o?...

Happy Deltarune Ch. 5 release day to all those who celebrate. (And if you don't partake, hey it's only $25 and there's still two more chapters to come!)

My last appearance in the old job. David is the best I love him forever. (I'm curious how they'll lower-third me)

New podcast alert! From Limewire to the Sony Watchman, we’re diving into the history of gadgets, apps, and websites that mattered most. Version History launches Oct. 5th! Listen wherever you get your podcasts or watch on The Verge’s YouTube channel.

Monday was my last day at Vox Media which, after 14 years, feels wild to say out loud. But here I am! I'm looking for my next role, so if you think that may be with you please reach out! You can DM me here, or find me on LinkedIn, or email me (chrisgrant @ this domain).

To pre-answer the "why are you leaving" crowd, I loved my time at Vox -- yes, even the hard times -- and I love working with the team(s) I leave behind, notably @theverge.com, but after some months of reflection I decided that I didn't belong at a Vox Media without Polygon.

Today, Kinda Funny takes a HUGE step in our 10-year journey: we’re collaborating with Russ Frushtick, formerly the co-founder of Polygon. Russ will be heading up our partnership business, so if you’re interested in advertising, sponsorships, or custom series, hit up partnerships@kindafunny.com!

Calling video game industry folks! You know the Strong Museum of Play, right? The museum that understands us & is documenting OUR history? Federal budget shenanigans have them in a surprise $500K hole. If you're able to support them, now's the time. Here's the link: www.museumofplay.org/support/

Back in the day Polygon was the site that made me the most mad (because they routinely published stories I was insanely jealous of.) I'm gonna make a list of the ones that I remember off the top. (It'll be skewed old because I'm out of da game)

I really appreciate all the kind things people are saying to me and everyone else from Polygon today. While I only got to have my dream job for a few months, I don't regret it for a second.

As of this morning, I no longer have a job at Polygon. If you know of anyone looking for writers — guides or otherwise — please let me know. And please, please, please keep an eye out for all of my immensely talented colleagues who are in the same situation.

14 years ago I pitched what would become Polygon to a startup called Sports Blogs Inc on the unfurnished third floor of a DC townhome. I held a laptop on my knees and went through a deck. Today that same company -- now called Vox Media -- sold Polygon to Valnet.

I really, truly (!) hope that the remaining Polygon team gets a chance to continue the work we all cared about so much! But somehow this is the end of my journey with the thing I created.

I'm staying at Vox Media for now but not sure what's next for me ... outside of taking time off to think through that exact question. My most heartfelt thanks to the entire team, I'm so sorry things ended this way. ❤️

Their press release proudly calls Polygon a "premium gaming publication" but Valnet literally refused to meet with me or answer a single question of mine throughout this process. They were wildly incurious about how a gaming publication even becomes "premium."
