Quarto 1.10 shipped Friday. The highlights page lists one feature. The changelog lists 74. Mostly preview friction: stale pages, _brand.yml ignored until restart, format: changes needing two renders. If you work in Positron, that's your whole day. A boring release. Best kind.

We move the bundled tools every release, and 1.10 is a big one: Pandoc 3.8.3 → 3.10, Typst 0.14.2 → 0.15.1, plus dart-sass 1.101 and Deno 2.7.14. Quarto ships its own copies, so every fix those projects landed since 1.9 arrives with the upgrade.

The one piece of real new work is accessibility. The built-in axe check now maps each violation to its WCAG level and sorts by impact — and axe-core is bundled, so scans run offline and readers' browsers stop pulling a script from a CDN.

Good news for Europe: posit::conf's virtual pass now includes auto-subtitles in French, Spanish, Portuguese, German & Italian 🎉 Plus a virtual workshop on 9/14, multiple time slots, and recordings within hours — easy to catch afternoon US sessions next morning. Join us virtually!

I am excited beyond description to lift the veil on what we have been working on in 2026: Please meet ggsql! A new extension of the SQL language for creating visualisations using the grammar of graphics. Read all about it in the blog post or visit the website at ggsql.org

Thanks, Max, for writing about this !! Really useful for anyone looking to move to Quarto as well.

With bookdown.org being decommissioned, I've been working on converting #rstats books from #bookdown to #quartopub. After spending a lot of time with Claude to get it right for my two books, here's a repo that might help you do the same (especially with Claude Code): github.com/topepo/bookd...

Update for #quarto users producing PDF with LaTeX Since Quarto 1.8.10, the default PDF engine is now LuaLaTeX instead of XeLaTeX. This follows the recommendation in LaTeX NEWS issue 40, Nov. 2024, from the “LATEX Tagged PDF” project. Please, try it out. We don't expect much impact, though.
