NEW: Michele Tafoya, GOP Senate nominee in MN recently issued a rather categorical set of denials she ever said she was embarrassed to live in MN — but she did say literally that in a deleted tweet. One of a whole bunch of tweets, we found saying she wanted to leave. www.cnn.com/2026/09/23/p...

Sucks that the Univ of Minnesota libraries are closed to the public. If the past several years have taught us anything, it’s that knowledge is necessary to fighting stupid bad fascists. So here’s a helpful doc on how to assist good U people who want knowledge freed: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

www.startribune.com/tolkkinen-mi... I seldom agree with Karen Tolkkinen but I appreciate her taking Tafoya to task on corporate vs family farm policy. A nice contrast to the Peggy Flanagan may be too radical for the centrist Dems article also published today.

startribune.comTolkkinen: Michele Tafoya says she’ll fight for farmers, but which ones?At Farmfest, she sympathized with a farmer with operations in six states. Very few Minnesota farmers are that big.

well, I never expected to be published in a Stanford journal, but the McKnight Foundation asked me write my thesis to the philanthropic world after the MN ICE surge: when there is an emergency, just... give money to people on the ground doing the actual work. as fast as possible. radical, I know.

The ICE surge must ramp down as quickly as possible so we can get on with important recovery efforts, such as purging from public life anyone seeking statewide office who thought the federal government brutalizing Minnesota was a fine idea and just what we deserved.

Today is World AIDS Day. Our president is not talking about it or commemorating it so I'm posting this as a reminder that it will not go away if we pretend it's not there. Reagan tried that and look - still here.

Andy Brehm stokes the "only Democrats do things to divide us" with another complaint about the new flag. He claims no one likes is because no one he knows likes it. Well, just maybe you don't have many good friends, Andy. www.startribune.com/minnesota-ne...

startribune.comBrehm: Minnesota’s new flag is ugly and divisive. It deserves another do-over."A state as great as ours should not settle for this mediocrity," contributing columnist Andy Brehm writes.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey raised his profile on the backs of the LGBTQ community. His support was always conditional on how many gay men thought he was hot (sadly, a lot) or how many votes he could gain playing bartender at the latest gay bar opening. He really sucks.

Jason Chavez@jchavezmpls.bsky.social

I’m disappointed that the Mayor and Chief declined to condemn the homophobic, sexist, and threatening comments lobbed at my colleagues and I on the dais. Minneapolis should be a welcoming and safe city for all. www.startribune.com/minneapolis-...

as much as you want to say it, our reaction to people taking action for the first time shouldn’t be “well where have you been?” scream it into a pillow if you need to get it out of your system

Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde to Trump: "I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender people in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives ... and the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals"

Instead we are essentially lectured about how our moral depravity forces good people like her to identify with mom's for liberty. I guess the idea of researching why this book is important to queer families and their children or why this book bans hurt us isn't important.
