Grief is so weird. Do other people carry a version of someone long gone who grew up and grew old, like the real person didn’t get to? Like, when I miss him, I tell him things, and when I talk to him, he’s middle aged like me, not young like he was when he died.

I am so tired of scammy emails about book marketing, however…this is how I feel about my book, too. So thanks for the free review copy, Scammer DuJoir! "I want to tell you what the Damselfly Inn does for a reader who has spent too long in stories where small towns are just pretty scenery.

The slow burn between Nan and Joss has real friction in it because you gave them both complicated histories that don't resolve too neatly, and the Vermont countryside works the way setting should work, it makes the emotional stakes feel rooted in something real.

A Middlebury graduate building Thornton as wish fulfillment and then writing it well enough that other people want to wish for it too is the best kind of origin story for a small town series."

Nan Grady shows up in Thornton and the town is genuinely alive around her, not as backdrop but as context, the kind of context that explains why Joss Fuller is the way he is and why the vandal targeting the inn is more than just a plot device.

Self-soothing with the Megan Follows Anne of Green Gables. I’ve read the books countless times. I’ve watched the two films over and over. Jonathan Crombie was one of my first crushes. And I still tear up seventeen minutes in when Matthew says, “You can talk all you like. I don’t mind.”

I have listened to it twice more since this post. I have other books on my ebook reader and in Libro, but I just want to wallow in this story

I have a terrible book hangover, and it seems hair of the dog is the only solution. I’ll be bingelooping the audio edition of The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy until further notice 🎧📖 #booksky

Okay, #romancereaders, let’s talk male main character smells for a sec. I’m side questing and curious what your favorite combos are. Lean into the tropes with me.Surprise me. Sandalwood and leather? Bergamot and cedar? Clean laundry?

I took a J-term class on Tom Stoppard’s play Arcadia, co-taught by a theatre professor/director and an advanced maths professor. It was incredible

What was your favorite early clas NOT in your eventual major. Mine was Ethnomusicology: an introduction to folk music.

NYC friends: this poor dog was almost on his freedom ride out of the pound when his foster didn't show up on him. He's now in danger of being put down. Do you have space in your home and heart to adopt him? ❤️ Also, lots of animals at this NYC shelter who need a home. nycacc.app#/browse/225834

A Dem lawmaker and her husband were killed by a guy for their political views and it’s already out of the news.

Louder for the trolls in the back. LLMs were trained on stolen human work. They don’t know anything. They are unregulated, unrefined regurgitation machines.

I keep seeing reports of non-AI users being told that an AI detector has dubbed their work AI generated, and it makes me insane because: 1) AI detection tools *are themselves AI* and thus entirely bullshit; and 2) if an AI was trained on your works, of COURSE it’ll flag you as sounding “like” AI!

Here, @npr.org, I fixed it for you: A former Minnesota House speaker and her spouse were assassinated, and a state senator and his wife were wounded in and assassination attempt early Saturday at their homes near Minneapolis, officials said.

Let me just say, the nuclear block wasn’t in my toolbox until BlueSky, and now I employ it on all platforms like garlic or vanilla, recklessly, joyfully, with my whole heart and absolute disregard for the recipe.

First pick up from my CSA today. 3 quarts of absolutely gorgeous strawberries 🍓🍓🍓 These berries are perfectly ripe and they smell amazing! I almost ate a whole quart in the car on my way home from the farm!

Healthcare for seniors is *not* waste, fraud, or abuse. Food for hungry kids is *not* waste, fraud, or abuse. A $45 military parade for a draft dodging felon *is* waste, fraud, and abuse. Paying the National Guard to attack US citizens *is* waste, fraud, and abuse.

I am sad to leave to the Tee Lasso party, late though I was. I haven’t cried at a series finale since Schitt’s Creek. I know they’ve announced another season, but really. That was a lovely way to finish the show.

Folks, Please don’t lose sight of the fact that the President is supposed to serve the American people. Not his pockets and his ego. We’re so deep in the mire that we’re losing even the memory of normal. Peanut farm, people. Peanut farm.
