oh fuck I don't have a pinned post.
Hiii I'm Meat/Die. I'm an artist, writer, all around fool. My main interest is pretty much anything horror related but I also love theme parks and platforms and indie games.
Also one day I'll make videos. One Day.
the bullies at school keep making me squeeze through narrow gaps so that they can seamlessly integrate cutscenes into gameplay without a loading screen.
idk, maybe in this day and age we need a game that puts a loud and repetitive nazi-stand-in supporter outside your characters office window with the intent of luring you to his position and giving you a prompt to punch him in the face. Its the little things.
The whole discussion regarding the IGN review of Mouse: PI for Hire and the games handling of tone is super weird because its not a discussion on how well the game approaches it topics but just like. People discussing it exclusively under the framing of it being "True Noir."
half of the game so far take my word with a grain of salt but it balances itself rather well and hasn't subverted my personal expectations. I am really enjoying it. But this debate of rubberhose mouse vs gritty noir is overlooking a discussion I think we should be having about the tropes-
and stereotypes the game occasionally reinforces despite its very clear-cut, minority supporting politics. There is definitely people out there better equipped to talk about this than I am. Anyways play Mouse and come up with your own opinions.

People are talking about the game as though it the first time noir or any related subgenres of detective media have been approach in a way that parodies the genre, the time period and the tropes. This is not even the first time a video game has done it. I say this having only gotten through about -
I have one video that's 95% done and solely requires me to make a few more talk sprites, and one script that's 80% done but requires me to subject my friends to torture. I think I enjoy this pursuit.
Really deeply funny that it took me like 3 months to figure out what I was doing and now that im on the video editing step I just speedran most of it in a day.
The trailer for The Mortuary Assistant looks good, but is at the inherent disadvantage that there is no way it can be scarier than actually playing The Mortuary Assistant.
For starters, I wanna catch y'all up with HI-09 a bit. I basically dropped the Steam Page and dipped, but for Shipwrecked 64's 2-year anniversary, I dropped a string of teasers for HI-09!
I'll drop them here

PSA: If you get a Discord message from someone named Chuckster, DO NOT REPLY! They will claim to help you get the Shine Sprite, but in reality they will just throw you into the abyss.
A lot of people are complaining about AI slop entering their YouTube algorithm, and while I don't doubt it, I open mine and the new thing I see is a 15 year old video that appears to be someone putting an office chair in an MRI machine.
I could go on about my interest in the in betweens of game development forever but I love when a placeholder is slightly able to endure itself to people, be it through digging through code, or devs deciding to keep it or it accidentally switching into the finished product -
"placeholder text" "concept art" either the temporary thing you put in matters to the process, in which case you need to get a human to work on it, or it doesn't, in which case you can just as easily put a bright pink rectangle that says PLACEHOLDER in and save everyone time and effort
And that endearment is only achievable if there's clear human input. I cant remember it specifically but there's a object inspection placeholder text from a survival horror that has become an onrunning joke solely because it's a note to an individual, and not just lorem ipsum. This isnt to say that-
That more generic placeholders can't also achieve this (Source Engine Missing Texture my beloved) but there is still deliberate human choice behind that. Human input and intention is always the most valuable aspect, and AI is inherently unable to achieve it.
I'm not like. As qualified as other people discussing the topic but I think everyone whose spoken to me semi-regularly knows that I value passion above all. Make something, even if it sucks, even if you do not have any deeper intention beyond "just creating" and create it yourself.
beyond being a marathon charity stream that surpassed its original goal, that was also a wonderfully-crafted narrative that reminded me of the classic webseries and ARGs that I grew up with, and the found footage genre. and they didn't even finish Azurik.
