obviously i have no problem with an age gap except when the older one in the relationship openly admits his relief that the younger one is too inexperienced to realize she’s too good for him

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.

Beyond disgusted by even more rape allegations against the President of the United States. "In total, more than 25 different women...have independently accused Donald Trump of rape, sexual assault, or other sexual misconduct." Report w/ new details: democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

I spent a good hour wondering if I was reading a fake report from a fake House Judiciary Dems website bc surely it would be headline news somewhere, anywhere if it were real.

Note the key phrase "so many people." Yglesias thinks it's fine—good in fact—that American billionaires are very interested in foreign elections and routinely influence them to promote corruption and fascism. His concern is that filthy plebs like you and me might want better things for everyone.

Yes well it does require things like “empathy” and possessing a basic understanding that all of our lives are interconnected

'my daughter had homework and asked me what made her special so i asked my robot i like more than her' is such a wild new kind of bad parent, we gotta quit making new kinds of people

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

When Democrats do well this fall, we’re going to see a lot of “strategists” trying to take credit for their approach. The trans panic people have been nothing but a drag on Democratic momentum and they need to fuck off into the sun

Cait reposted

Any politician who’s willing to throw away one group’s rights is willing to throw away everyone’s rights. It’s that simple. Every single consultant, pundit and candidate who’s shown a willingness to abandon trans rights needs to be shunned from the party forever

Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights: “I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”

dems need to leave trans people the fuck alone!!!! what the hell!!!!!

what does it say about the national party that there are candidates running on the dem ticket buying ads saying that some people are technically subhuman without reprimand or even comment. would you abide that for any other group or is this one special

The fact that the president's doctors are giving him the dementia test over and over again -- tracking his decline, most likely -- and that the president keeps bragging about having to take that test should be a five-alarm fire.

it's also vv funny that Elon has so little to say about Hinojosa as TX, who would have much more direct power over him & SpaceX, I think because he can't even conceptualize losing the governor's mansion.

Cait reposted

seeing Elon go on a multi-day crashout about Talarico has really highlighted how psychologically devastating it would be to Republicans if they lost Texas. So much of their self-identity is tied to repping Texas as the anti-California and would be shattered if the state even tipped blue.

Watching this play out has been soul-destroying. These people are beyond sick and depraved. They are cruel and seem to have no capacity for shame. As a society, I genuinely don’t know how we deal with a meaningful segment of the population who have no shame.

Vance is in Ohio to support the Ramaswamy campaign, which is in hot water for an ad in which they promote a woman who sided with her husband after he was arrested for raping her 12-year-old daughter. For his intro song, they chose ... Jerry Lee Lewis, who famously married his 13-year-old cousin.
