“Martin Short and maple syrup” is pretty much a find-and-replace phrase for “peace, order and good government”

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Obama: "That well-known evil empire Canada. That historical adversary of ours. Canada! *laughs* It's your neighbor. It's a few minutes' drive over the bridge! These are the people who gave us Martin Short and maple syrup. They are the nicest people! And someone we've gotten them so mad."

The responsible Evan, not the Evan who coughed up the puck three times, in the last 10 minutes against Carolina. One of them, a cross the D-Zone, High Danger Zone, outlet pass. Devon Levi made a spectacular save and might be the play where he was injured.

There’s a concept in economics referred to as Total Factor Productivity or TFP. It quantifies the “extra” productivity above the standard factors of capex. It’s structural and driven by a society’s investments in education, infrastructure and regulations. China has it. insideevs.com/news/812811/...

Meanwhile, the AESO has banned solar wind and batteries from #Alberta 's data centre build out. This policy is good for gas producers Bad for all electricity users, it will drive up prices for electricity and gas.

ctvnews.caWhy renewables are being left out of Alberta’s data centre power plansA proposal by the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) to power data centres in the province will only allow natural gas-powered projects to connect to the grid.

High risk, as in the last three years severe cold weather took gas plants off line. The AESO hasn't articulated its cold weather policy for data centres. Who gets the power, when the grid is stressed? High probability it won't be Alberta households!

Thanks to Trump, Canada has woken up to the fact that it is always just one U.S. election away from facing another challenge to its sovereignty. Even if a Democrat returns to the White House, Canada will 💯% continue diversifying our economy for the shake of our children’s children sovereignty. So 🙏.

This is exactly how I see LLMs. They work in programming because the harness can debug the code they write. But they are too unreliable and stochastic to be used for anything where accuracy matters and you can't easily test their output for accuracy. Like analysis workflows in research.

Jonathan Koomey@jgkoomey.bsky.social

It is bad for real research, but useful for programming and data manipulation. No real researcher should be using LLMS for search, summaries, or writing. They are antithetical to serious research, in part because they just make stuff up.
