One of the most psychotic legal proposals I've ever seen

🚨 BREAKING | Labour is set to impose a sweeping ban on trans people using any "single-sex space". In EHRC guidance that Labour is set to approve, trans people will be barred from accessing toilets, gyms and changing rooms that match their gender. (Source: @TheTimes)

Chad Johnson is CEO of 'Grain Weevil'. His son did robotics competitions in high school, which inspired this little fella that breaks up hardened surfaces & levels grain to ensure it behaves like a liquid, avoids clumping. This probably saves 10-30 human lives a year. NO BOOTS IN THE GRAIN.

brother life insurance just hit 🔥@moodprobiotic.bsky.social

i love you grain weevil

This is heartbreaking. Please stop for a moment and consider the children caught up in this. Imagine you're a trans child - already a difficult experience, to put it mildly - and you've found a hobby you enjoy with friends, and now you're being kicked out for being trans. It's cruel.

Trans+ Solidarity Alliance@transsolidarity.bsky.social

Breaking: Girlguiding has announced plans to kick out existing trans guides. They previously barred new trans members, but this is a heartbreaking step to exclude trans girls from existing groups of friends. It will be devastating for members and volunteers www.girlguiding.org.uk/information-...

love to see more people pushing back on goals of being “frictionless”. friction is a part of how we make meaning and build things that are worth building. messy, slow, human conflict has value

I finally understand boomers avocado meme. "Boomers bought houses at a time when saving a couple of pounds per day taking a packed lunch to work would give you a house deposit in eight years. For a millennial this would take two centuries." martinrobbins.substack.com/p/waspinomic...

My latest, exploring with numbers how the millennial household budget is basically incomprehensible to retired boomers.

I have (hopefully, maybe) vanquished my CI woes (for now) and released otel-desktop-viewer 0.2.0, now with DuckDB 🦆 - Today we tackle log ingestion. 🪵 - Then we ingest the metrics. 📏 - Then we rewrite the whole-ass front end. 🍑 github.com/CtrlSpice/ot... PS: Please excuse the mangled change log.

"capture all of Gaza and remain there indefinitely" is, by another name, forcible annexation and displacement/destruction of the people living there

BREAKING: Israeli ministers agree on plan to capture all of Gaza and remain there for an unspecified amount of time, two officials say.

Entirely predictable. Forming policies to chase Reform voters, such as anti-immigration, increased anti-trans and attacks on the disabled, not only don't go far enough for those who actually support such moves, so don't pick up Reform votes, they also lose left wing and progressive support.

Tim Bale@timbale.bsky.social

💯% predictable 🙄 (source: link.news.inews.co.uk/view/6154b3e...)

A gobsmacking story. Water companies let toxic waste disposers, for cash, dump their loads into sewage farms. The sewage sludge is then spread, untested, on farmland, potentially poisoning vast areas, entire ecosystems and the people (you and me) eating the food. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

theguardian.comWhat’s in the millions of tonnes of sludge sprayed on to farmland? The answer won’t make you happy | George MonbiotThanks to breathtaking negligence, the liquid fertiliser used to help grow our food bubbles with a lethal cocktail of toxins, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

1. Incomes have gone up over the last few years, but this has all been eaten up by rising costs. People we help with debt are now £13 in the red every month after paying for basics. Pre-covid most people were about breaking even.

i love uks take on FOIA because we dont really know when the piccadilly line is getting the new trains exactly (i think EOY 🥲) but they are very open about the exact position of every tree at the new depot in cockfosters

i guess the moral of the story is it only counts as over-engineering if you actually implement things, otherwise it's just sparkling thinking through the consequences of your choices

Today is day 404 of a genocide of Palestinians. The forced evacuation of Northern Gaza, after its siege and starvation, is a horror we will all have to account for when future generations ask us where we were and how we let this happen.

Erin A. Snider@erinsnider.bsky.social

Powerful 154 page report today from HRW saying Israeli officials have deliberately caused mass displacement of Palestinians in Gaza and are responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity therein. "Israel’s actions appear to also meet the definition of ethnic cleansing.” menasky

This should be the first metric of success for the new government on criminal justice. Not officer numbers. Not crime rates. Not prisons. Just this: Can you do better than a criminal trial - a living nightmare for complainant, witnesses and defendants - being listed in *2028*?

You are up to date.
