Replying to @jakemhs.bsky.social

From the political perspective: they would prefer to keep transit as a make-work jobs program and that's why we're the only subway system with two crew on almost every train. They're also the big reason why it took so long to end carriage horse rides.

From the former member perspective: the deals they negotiated for office workers sucked and I was told to go fuck myself when I made my feelings politely known.

For someone who lives far from the east coast, can you say more about why this union is so awful?

🕸️ Cobweb Curtains For Zoosha 🦇 reposted

It’s time to shove OPTO down their throats. The TWU rank-and-file shouldn’t empower anti-labor right wing chuds.

Sam@samd.bsky.social

TWU be like “Hochul is MAGA because she doesn’t support our MAGA union” in reality, they’re just mad at Hochul because she refused to expand the union’s expensive handouts and make-work jobs funded with taxpayer $$

We should take these for what they are: half-hearted thoughtless yammering from a bunch of rich bigots. Yeah, they don’t like Trump? Merely coincidental to our society’s best interest, otherwise completely ignorable advice.

The NYT editorial board, which two years ago said it wasn't going to do congressional (or mayoral or gubernatorial endorsements) has apparently had a change of heart. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/27/o...

Damn good question.

Marisa Kabas@marisakabas.bsky.social

I emailed Patrick Healy, assistant managing editor for standards and trust at NYT, to ask why their story about a House report with new details of rape allegations against the President of the United States included neither those details, nor a single use of the word "rape." archive.is/1s9AM

🕸️ Cobweb Curtains For Zoosha 🦇 reposted

can i just say it’s actually insane that the first sentence of this report is “a growing body of evidence demonstrates that Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s” and it’s not front page news

Adam Keiper@adamkeiper.com

Evidence "shows that Trump lied about kicking Epstein out of his Mar-a-Lago club," according to a new report from the House Judiciary Dem staff. The report also reveals for the first time Beatrice Keul's account of allegedly having been raped by Trump. democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

This is why I simply CANNOT with all the people who log into social media just to post “we gotta do something about the bikes, they’re running every red light, I nearly got hit.” Man, you nearly got hit and that’s a far better day than like 100 people each day who gets mauled by a car

So, this is still going on. If you can evade being caught on-the-scene, it is perfectly legal in New York City to ram someone with a car. The police will treat you, the victim, like you're a pain in the ass.

Almost = not quite! Even with many bikes running red lights - some of them irresponsibly, but, face it, it’s an empty intersection 95% of the time - people aren’t getting hit/killed left and right. This is mostly a test of whether you want to make a problem out of nothing.

This is not saying crashes should go ignored, but “there could have been a crash” is not a crash definitively, and is often not even close to a crash but is very much a crime of etiquette and arrogance. You are coming into a situation with *real problems* to tell us about your almost-problem 🤡

The Chris Brown timeline is how I know you are not convincing the general public to rally behind justice and fairness. There are people still rooting for this guy. He literally assaults people with weapons, including his romantic partners. His music is fuckin' boring but that's beside the point.

Chris Brown left court cheered on by fans as he avoided prison time for beating a music producer with a tequila bottle at a London nightclub three years ago. Brown was given an eight-month sentence, suspended for a year. #ChrisBrown

Nothing surprises me when people vote for or platform/uplift an abuser. Clearly many of us recoil! But the thing is, someone who "has anticapitalist opinions" that make capitalists recoil, they'll get FULLY canceled, and this guy who makes morally-anchored people recoil gets to have a long career

Then when the media comes to us and says someone or something can't be seen anymore "for the safety of children or family values" you know they are just fully jerking us all off because they do not care so much about Chris Brown or R. Kelly or pedocons or whatever. The real enemy is Kathy Griffin!

This is good messaging, pleading the new-ish mayor to pick up something the city’s engineers developed for safety purposes that the city’s prior executives buried for petty reasons.

Eastern Queens Greenway@queensgreenway.bsky.social

We know @mayor.nyc.gov wasn't in office when this bike lane was designed, but he's in charge now. The @nycdot.bsky.social has stalled for years without putting it in, even though the Community Board asked for it. Do you think the City will finally act after these kids got hurt?

All the more, who is using an agent to code Hello World? And don’t we know that the overcomplication being described isn’t a feature of agents as much as it comes from the actual code that trained the models? As in, *this is how a lot of web apps are built now*

“This is an op by hard drive makers and bandwidth utility companies” is the icing-on-the-cake conclusion to why this is happening. It’s embarrassingly stupid. Ignorant of 30 years of software development trajectory & also doesn’t know how tests work.

Village Preservation - a real collection of Manhattan's pettiest bad-guys-against-all-change - has come out staunchly against Proposal 3 & pretend there's nothing in it except a massive leak of air rights next to landmarks. I know I'm not doing much but I called them liars in their FB comments

I see some people voting in NYC No on ballot proposal #3. Misguidedly Just reminding everyone it includes several good proposals. They are unrelated and that’s bad, but that’s a process issue and not a policy issue. The only substantive opponents on any of these points are career NIMBYs

These guys are liars and have greatly succeeded in *slowing down any attempts to redevelop private property in Manhattan* without saving any fucking landmarks at all. They filed in court against a church whose sanctuary burned down saying "they wanted a second opinion" on the compromised facade

Sure, but then who are the developers negotiating with and who can see what's actually going on there? Are they negotiating with stooge-like district reps who have zero expertise and potentially power-broker ambitions? In order to get any new units, what kind of hidden horse trades can you stomach?

Boston’s chief planner is a true believer in the San Francisco model, in which you make it impossible to profitably build apartments by-right so developers are forced into a politicized discretionary negotiation with the city, which relaxes the rules in exchange for below-market units.

The right’s terrified of Abdul El-Sayed. Meanwhile, Qatar—a major Muslim Brotherhood backer—gave the U.S. a $400 million luxury jet for Trump’s use. Apparently, a Muslim in office is scary, but a Muslim monarchy bearing gifts is hospitality.

a really big deal regarding online safety

The Shadowserver Foundation@shadowserver.bsky.social

PHP Attacks Update: As others, we have been observing a lot of AI slop PHP attempts against our honeypot sensors the last week, but so far no confirmed exploitation. We have also refrained from CVE-2026-109618/619 tagging in scans, due to lack of reliable, safe large scale methods.

So, this is still going on. If you can evade being caught on-the-scene, it is perfectly legal in New York City to ram someone with a car. The police will treat you, the victim, like you're a pain in the ass.

So I don't want to oversell this but our 2024 EV percentage after day 2 was R+2.5. Right now it's D+17.7 So a 20 point swing in the largest suburban county in the country that had resisted some previous blue waves.
