London Melee TO

I've been wanting to run a tournament where we have posters since I saw all the cool stuff that Northern melee have been doing, and Jada has given me the perfect theme for it 🔥🔥🔥 time to get the Gorillionaire commission going...

Overall a good first day of Lennied, glad to have been able to help things run, think Nebs et al did a good job sharing out the workload to be manageable for themselves (lessons for me in here...) Not super happy with how I played but got the conch fixed up and felt more confident so onwards...

Crews tomorrow should be fun, and I have no expectations so anything we do is a bonus. Intermediate bracket should give me two shots at a win I'm happy with, and that's all I'm looking for I think.

Everything ran well schedule wise, so kudos to the TOs on that too. New pet peeve unlocked: players taking usbs off the desk instead of waiting for me to give them one. Let me start your set on s.gg first so I'm not hassling you midgame...

Not my favourite block of comms either but I feel decent about it. Was a little tired and didn't have the energy I would have liked, but Dzuh carried the energy a little (love u goat). Swiss was a little hard too with much longer gaps between sets than I'm used to, but I think we made it work

I believe this is correct for UKIE for me, woeful coverage of Scotland and Ireland...

Group chat was discussing what states we've been to, here's mine! Rule: you must have "done something" within the state in order to count it ...technically the 4 Corners Monument is all 4, but man that's such a stretch to really count it lmao

Very happy with how things ran at Quartered 27, looking forward to running the next thing :) Placed 2nd in ammies which I didn't expect since I was TOing. Trying my best not to focus on the outcome too much since I think I had like 3 things break my way that could have ended the run earlier

Got a few things I want to improve for next time - double laptop for replays so I can do ammies and pro separately. Would like to run an extra setup if possible. Schedule worked okay but I think I want to take some notes on how timings worked so I can communicate it better to players

But I'm really happy with how I played today, which is a blessing. Ended up Vlerking it because the camera volunteer had to drop out so I did photography as well. Will check how they turned out but I think I struggled a bit with lighting in the venue - excited to learn and improve at that

Got tickets for 2 Kraftklub dates in 2027 let's gooooo Will be my 11th and 12th times seeing them, and the first time in 10 years (!) that I'm not seeing them solo

i've been working in sports media for quite a long time now, but i'll be honest, i've never bothered to learn the names of any of the players in any sport. i have no idea who the hell any of these people are. i just look at the ball

This weekend I had the privilege of grappling with some very big and difficult games with a spotlight on Michael Lorino's Imperial Elegy. As usual, the whole experience got me thinking about big games, what they demand of their players and the rewards to be found in their exploration. 🧵

Went to an arcade in Halifax that had a framed portrait of Shigeru Miyamoto looking like he's about to be at the center of a murder mystery in the pacific northwest

Over the weekend, my kids and I played a ton of Catan, and after decades of service, we decided to retire our beloved set. Here's a little appreciation thread for objects of play and their gradual decay 🧵

there’s no difference between “knowing something” and “knowing about something” anymore. it takes like two seconds to go from hearing some obscure academic concept never before uttered beyond the realm of clinical psychology to sharing tiktoks about “survivors of parents with Spanish Hole Delusion”

It's been a while since I shared a long read! I spent several months looking at gender representation in the world of board games. Hugely grateful for the time of the designers who shared their stories with me.

Board games are bigger and more welcoming than ever, but women still face an uphill battle for the right kind of representation. www.wargamer.com/board-games/... #BoardGames #Wingspan #Tabletop

In Super Smash Bros. Melee, all fighters' default poses are a standard T-pose with arms out and open eyes, except for Yoshi. He has a unique default pose that gives him lowered eyelids that result in a smug or satisfied expression.
