I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

Vivek Ramaswamy, Ken Paxton, Mike Collins, Roger Marshall, on and on - everywhere you look the most despicable humans financed by a handful of billionaires and elevated by Trump want you to give them even more political power to serve their interests at your expense.

A Scaramucci is ten days (july 21-31). Zacharia was appointed on Oct 9 and lasted till October 16. So a Zacharia is seven days, or 7/10ths of a Scaramucci.

Crazy idea: Democrats should defend immigration and immigrants, run on the idea that immigrants make America great, and stop Homer Simpsoning themselves into the shrubbery every time Republicans try to demagogue it.

Greg Sargent@gregsargent.bsky.social

New Marist poll of Texas finds 61% say undocumented immigrants should stay in US if meet certain requirements. Only 35% say they should leave. A majority of noncollege white men (Trump base) says stay. Supports my case (see piece/thread below) that Trump opened way for new pro-immigrant consensus

Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA): "At this point in time in 2022, a little over 200,000 Virginians had voted. At this point in time in 2026, approximately 450,000 Virginians have voted early."

Ask yourself why ICE says it needs tens of millions of voter records to "combat fraud" when the actual number of proven cases is ~513 since 2016, compared to more than 685 million votes cast. Literally fewer than 1 in a million instances. ~200 involved vote by mail. Non-issue. Fight back!

Rape as a tool of political violence was the natural escalation point to allowing an adjudicated rapist to become President. I think I'll just start shrieking at the top of my lungs at anyone who tells me I'm overreacting from this point forward. No words, just the feral sound of unbridled rage.

The ACLU's Jeffrey Stein called the ruling a "huge step in the right direction." “The public deserves to know how our government is justifying the cold-blooded murder of hundreds of civilians." 🔽

A federal judge ORDERED the Trump admin to privately show him the memo purporting to justify boat strikes that have killed 234 people in the Caribbean and Pacific. Judge Engelmayer rejected several rationales for withholding the memo from the public and will determine whether to release it.

1/ The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights just released its report on campus antisemitism and Title VI. I testified at the hearing. The report is unanimous, bipartisan, & debunks the main legal theories behind recent attacks on universities for allegedly tolerating antisemitism. 🧵

Student journalists still believe that it’s more important to hold powerful people to account than it is to hold on to access to those powerful people. They haven’t become Savvy Insiders yet

I think it’s fair to say that the student journalists at Cornell are braver than the news networks who just gave up on their WH pool ban even though CNN is still being denied access. www.cornellsun.com/article/2026...

Instead of spending nearly $270 BILLION on mass deportations ($2,358 PER taxpayer), we could fund: Medicaid for 12 million people. Healthcare for 5 million veterans. Free early education for 6.7 million children. Money for cruelty vs. money for community.
