And they locked Galileo up for suggesting the Earth was not the center of the universe.

When I was a kid, my friends called me an idiot for wanting a Virtual Boy. Oh, but now it's all cool, huh? Unbelievable.

Based solely on whatever The sample size of people I follow who post about baseball is, the entire world wants the Brewers to win the World Series.

NATHAN FIELDER: So now that you’ve seen it, can you tell me what was funny about that bit? ELIZABETH HOLMES: *smiling like the Smile Demon from the Smile horror movie series* The guy took a really long time to describe what his family’s act was

There are so many good video games, so many wildly artistic, beautiful, weird fucking games, games I would have never expected to see the light of day. And people like them and play them! It’s not like when I was young and talking about cubivore to anyone who would listen.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

I have no idea what it’s like elsewhere in the country right now, but I can’t imagine that gas spiking up by $.65 in the last four days or so around me will be very good for the powers that be chances as early voting continues.

Ope, I forgot to post this last week. But I wrote for @mothership.blog about South of Midnight’s difficulty toggles helping my kid into action games, while also showing me how much cheat codes were an integral part of my getting into gaming in the first place. www.mothership.blog/my-kid-hated...

Love how every time I try to read a Wired article it’s like “yeah you need an account,” so I go to sign in and it’s like “you’re already signed in, idiot”

Octopus is the easiest thing to cut out of your diet on moral grounds because it’s basically never around, probably has dreams and emotions and tastes like a tire.

This is probably the wrong solution but boy do I wish I could have separate wake words for old Siri and new Siri. I always thought old Siri was actually really good at very specific things, and I’d like the option to just call on that one in those cases.

This is some hot shit y'all

When Grammy-winning musician Rhiannon Giddens begins playing “Old Corn Liquor,” a traditional Black American folk tune, acclaimed Chinese pipa virtuoso Wu Man recognizes similarities to Chinese pentatonic music and spontaneously joins in. The joy on their faces says it all.

A fly almost got in the way of a new TG record from Roger Blair on Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition. Unbeknownst to Roger, midway in his run through Motocross Maestro, it landed on his camera but the TG community determined there was enough to see to approve a new record of 53.750 seconds.

if you aren't already supporting @mothership.blog, you should be. support women and queer people in video game criticism and journalism. we deserve to exist in these spaces but, at least in the case of mothership, we can only exist and pay our writers and introduce you to new writers if YOU help us.

I want to give that city councilor who tried to keep everyone on task and then refused to pray a high five.

Jason Koebler@jasonkoebler.bsky.social

this is the funniest thing i've seen in a looooong time. city passes new rule allowing prayer before city council meetings. satanist prays. city council then debates proper time to "undo the curse that was just put on our city" www.404media.co/it-is-done-h...

Being a writer is great, your job is just words and every time you see the slightest edit in a google doc you get to think that everyone hates you actually

Hey when did people start saying ”quote-quote” instead of “quote-unquote” This is a serious question. I heard my kid do it first like two months ago and have since heard two different people say it on podcasts. It’s new to me, so it makes me old man mad.

What if we just let them have all the money and start our own economy, is that an option

Nicholas Grossman@nicholasgrossman.bsky.social

AI is now the biggest investment in all of US history as a percentage of GDP. Datacenter construction is up, all other construction is down. "AI Is Squeezing Out the Rest of the Stock Market," reported WSJ 2 days ago. We basically bet the whole economy on the most optimistic visions panning out.

Incredible behavior.

I saw a band last night who, on the logic that everyone usually misses at least 1 set at a show to smoke or socialize, insisted we miss their set so we watch everyone else. They refused to start until everyone left the room and closed the door. Whenever someone tried to peek, they stopped playing.

People whose parents had weirdo music taste: did you have a musical rebellion phase? If so, how did that manifest? Just thinking about how right now, I can’t annoy my kid with anything musical because she’s heard it all, but that may not last for much longer.

A little late for this take but you know, Metroid Prime 4 being a game that everyone either doesn’t care about or wishes was something that it’s not except a select, passionate few is very Metroid Prime of it
