My job? Oh I'm the guy who makes all the Generic Brand Products you see people compare their shit against in commercials. Yeah It's... It's been rough, I really thought we had something with those paper towels, but then they just fell apart. Really thought we could have been a contender.

june's secret method to teach people riichi mahjong: Play 3-4 games of it to start, with a limited ruleset each time Game 1: no scoring. Just making a 3-3-3-3-2 hand. First player do so wins. Teach draw, discard, and pause halfway through to teach pon, chi, tsumo, ron

dora is fun extra points. Don't even mention ura dora. Do that like game 5 or whenever it comes up. All the other yaku you can now mention, but remind them that these are all bonus points; the base ones are what they need to be allowed to score. Now they gotta combine yaku to get the biggest hand

and then u mention like seven pairs and what a yakuman is briefly as a joke and you're good and everyone now knows the basics of how to play and didn't get overwhelmed by having you start out by going "okay well first we need to explain how the wall works"

This game is just to reinforce "you need to find one of these to win". When the game ends, check which one they got, congratulate them on finding one, and then explain scoring; since that yaku is worth X han, they get Y points. Do not explain fu. Tell them fu is a mystery to us all.

This teaches them how scoring steals points from other players Third game: explain the esoterica. Furiten is an opportunity to reach them about watching discards; say the rule exists so other people can figure out what someone might need to win and not discord at.

game 2: limited yaku. Still no scoring, only goal is to GET one, because "you need one to win" Only explain the simplest ones; toitoi, straight, tanyao, dragons, the two wind triplets that matter, half/full flush and Most Importantly Riichi

Now you mention what an open hand is, and make it clear they riichi can only be done with a closed hand; and then you make it clear riichi can ALWAYS be done with a closed hand. So if they don't know what you they need, they just stay closed to riichi, that counts.

If you can, reach riichi; just say "if you haven't pon'd or chi'd u can do this for extra points" Teach kan if you have to, but try and avoid it

Every time I go by this building I go OKAY WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE TO YOU most people go "uhhh idk it's a building" But anyone who also went to MGM goes "oh fuck it's tower of terror" and I finally feel understood

Good morning, if you live in Toronto please take some time out of your day to go and vote for anyone other than Brad Bradford.

i'm still really proud of this review. this is absolutely one of my favorite games this year

Reviews of the games I played this week on stream! first up, KEY FAIRY, which is a delight start to finish. I can recommend this to anyone and i will do so because it made me so fuckin happy and warm. play it! backloggd.com/u/JuniperThe... store.steampowered.com/app/2878580/...

okay first step for speedrunning key fairy is done complete map of the game. now i just gotta plan out routes for any% and all endings

fun thing i did here: key fairy is a monochrome game with just black and white (well... mostly, :P ) but it lets you set color palettes in the menu you can unlock in game so, i used those colors as a vague key for my map so i can remember where stuff is! just switched before taking screenshots.

Your biggest impact on the internet? Heh. Hehehehe. Hehehehehehee. I can't talk about that one yet. Come back april 29th, 2031. Just fucking wait.

alright spent like 3 hours making a key fairy map. lets see if i can't make a route for this. key fairy, ftr, is one of my favorite little games this year. my number one pick for "how does this not have 100 reviews yet" store.steampowered.com/app/2878580/...

store.steampowered.comKey Fairy on SteamDeep in an ancient forest bound by a bitter spell, a tiny fairy wanders. Wielding a spool of thread and a bladeless sword, weave through twisting paths to unearth enchanted trinkets, evading monsters ...

need something that - isn't super well known, the more obscure the better - isn't super physically demanding; if i have to try 2000 times to get a good run i'm uh. not gonna - has an amount of interesting routing and planning involved in figuring out a speedrun

good music genre names: Math Rock - it's rock for nerds who like math Thrash Metal - it's metal that makes you thrash around Plunderphonics - it's full of stolen sounds. and it sounds cool to say Bluegrass - sounds really cool. "bluegrass" what's that. i wanna see the blue grass

more good music genre names: "Big Beat", "Drum and Bass", "Drone" - they sure do! "Sludge Metal", "Thrash Metal" - accurately describes the vibes of the metal "Funk", "Darkwave", "Grunge", "New Age" - this doesn't really describe music. but i have to agree. it IS that

shoegaze - they sure do! they sure fuckin do! free jazz - what if jazz was more free. it'd sound like this jungle - you think it's a racism genre. but instead it's COOL and one more bad music genre: Singer/Songwriter - what the fuck does this mean. shut up

Bad music genre names: Intelligent Dance Music - wow you're so much smarter then those other guys House Music - why is it called that. what Pop - oh you're popular? your music is defined by it being, succesful? okay dude "Worldbeat" - what if the genre was "racism"

meeting someone who cares a lot about disney world is like meeting someone who cares about WW2 tanks. It's a big red flag, but there's a fair chance they're someone who appreciates an incredible fear of design. You just gotta ask some pointed questions to make sure they Know How Evil Things Are

You just gotta mention like, operation paperclip or the town of Celebration Florida and see if they're suitably Horrified and Angry and if so you're good lol

all this week i've been running NEXT FEST BINGO, a fun way of finding new demos and doing silly challenges in games But I can only run so many games a week. so if YOU'D like to run your own next fest bingo, here's how! docs.google.com/document/d/1...

docs.google.comSTEAM NEXT FEST BINGO GUIDENEXT FEST BINGO THE HOTTEST GAME ONLINE WHAT IT IS NEXT FEST BINGO is the hottest game online, if you’re one of the like 30 people that has tried it. Take a bingo board, fill it with generic goal...

Meanwhile the worst music genre name I can think of is IDM, "Intelligent dance music" You can't call yourself that you sound like you need a wedgie just by using that term I love experimental and weird electronic stuff but you can't call it that

played the newest brush burial bruiseland demo and folks i do love brush burial so much if skin deep refines the emergent wacky mechanics-colliding shenanigans of imsims, brush burial really captures the 'how the hell am i gonna get in there the way i wanted to' level design puzzles of the genre

your annual reminder that if you like old action games that make you go "what the fuck is happening" in hilarious awesome ways constantly you should check out 7 blades for the ps2 it's so good
