I backed this fab project over the weekend.

My pal is selling a rather rare book by @reversediorama.bsky.social if anyone fancies it before it’s on eBay.

Happy 92nd birthday to the fantastic ALAN GARNER!

Where did this flu (or whatever it is) come from? Currently laid up, spaced out and feeling horrible. Trying to stay off the phone and read MR James ghost stories, with a supply of sweet tea in between fitful naps.

Bayeux tapestry was fantastic, and the decoration of independence a wee bonus. Soho lunch afterwards. Now zzzzz.

Tonight’s film. Seen once before, over streaming, nearly twenty years ago and loved it. Breach with Chris Cooper, about the FBI mole. Good old Cinema Paradiso DVD rental delivers the goods.

Good times with Gavin and Niall at Yellow Arches in Sheffield last night.

Off up to Sheffield, where I lived for ten years, for two mate’s birthday party. Grabbed some goodies from the shelves to play.

NASA picture of the day today is a real 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿beauty! This is a composite image of the ~5000yo Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis. The amazing Giuseppe Petricca has only gone and photographed the Sun at noon there, every few days, for a whole year. #Dedication 🔭🧪👌 ℹ️: science.nasa.gov/image-articl...

It’s cooled down quite a bit and had a good swim. 6 laps, one mile, 45 mins. Beers after, then made a smoked salmon pâté. Get me.

Some light Summer reading.

I wouldn't call myself a cartoonist, but I had the vision and just needed it to be on paper to the best of my ability.

I had an eclipse swim in the pond. Magic!

Bill Oddie. Yes, he was a Goodie, how I first encountered him as a kid. But he's also the man behind this wonderfully atmospheric beat ballad I stumbled upon on 7" in 1990. For fans of Bowie's first album on Dream, or Scott Walker, or Dusty Springfield's Where Am I Going. youtu.be/SfSG8dP4Yzo?...

2k swim this afternoon. Nice bit of cloud cover and a much, much quieter pond.

Replaced the chain and sprocket on the Brompton.

If anyone would like to see a short video of a dog using their tail as a rotar blade, this is your lucky day.

Gloriously bonkers and brilliant. The sound is mental! #theodyssey

Busy at the pond.

This time last week I was hiking in Dogtown, Gloucester, MA. Olson’s in hand looking for the James Merry boulders. I found them. Longer post incoming once I’ve got my thoughts in order.

Hello to another day spent guzzling water while surrounded by cooling fans. It's like being Gregor Samsa if he woke up to find himself transformed into a datacentre.

Holiday week at home. Glorious swim at the Men’s pond.

That’s our flat and Mini 🤣

Olson’s apartment at 28 Fort Square, Gloucester, MA. My copy of Maximus to Gloucester - I (1961) dedicated to Gerrit Lansing, with love, Charles. It’s really something to be here after all these years of reading.

To Gloucester! NYC to Boston by Amtrak, then Uber to Gloucester. An auspicious rainbow arrival to my Olson pilgrimage. It’s so weird and incredible being HERE.

Ice cream vans! Ever wondered about the folklore of ice cream vans - the music, the products, & the vans? Well, a reminder that you can read my free article on the subject here.... Bore family & friends with the details! Over an ice cream. www.tandfonline.com/doi/epdf/10.... image c. simpson

I’m in NYC with work and got to visit William Burroughs’ Bunker at 222 The Bowery & the home of Giorno Poetry systems. It’s perfectly preserved and I got to sit in Burroughs’ Orgone Accumulator. Mind blown.

REST IN POWER JAMES BLOOD ULMER much obliged for all the music 💚

Milano on Thursday evening.

Thanks for the tipoff @harrysword.bsky.social Harry, they’re brilliant. He’s totally mad and hilarious with it. Fantastic.

Every summer I repost this article on how to spot drowning. Please read it and pass on. In the last few years I’ve had SIX messages from people who saved a kid’s life after clicking on the link from my feed. slate.com/technology/2...
