Reminder for UK employees (and employers for that matter): Union recognition is important and supporting ppl's fight for it is great, however employees without a recognition agreement are still protected and can still be represented by their union.

If the door is closed, it's on. If the door was not there, it would be functionally the same as being open, therefore the doors "on" state is closed!!

The licence fee is the biggest bargain in the UK. Not only do you get dozens of TV channels, radio stations, websites, apps, educational resources etc but it supports the infrastructure that enables all terrestrial TV.

Sorry I dont normally follow football world cups, does this mean we get Miku now? We can give her one of the fancy "woman who goes to the races once a year" hats and make her eat crumpets

The best way to defuse a situation in which you are wrong is to admit you're wrong. Most politicians have yet to understand this.

Sat next to a girl on the train whose Spotify playlists were all "My playlist #1", "My playlist #2", "My playlist #3" and so forth up to #22. Absolutely chaotic evil personality trait 😭😭😭

I turned on a cooking show and the chef said "we are making a super simple dish - only 10 ingredients plus salt and spices" > Super simple > "Only" 10 ingredients plus salt and spices 🤨

Unions don’t necessarily protect you from layoffs. BUT they do give you leverage when one does happen. I’ve heard from unionized folks how it helped them secure better severance, benefit extensions etc. The last few years have shown there is no reason not to unionize!

Music should not be added to Audio Books. If the narrator's reading of the author's word's cannot invoke the appropriate emotional response without some horrific incidental music playing at least one of them isn't doing their job properly.

Watched 20 minutes of day of the devs compared to the two hours of SGF and already saw more games I am interested in with more interesting teams behind them... Indie devs rule

I don't get how so many software folks cling to LLMs, like, I'm sorry but every time I've given them a try the result is dogshit. & I promise I'm not holding it wrong! Even excluding externalities, it's just not good at what it's sold to do! If you think it is, I worry about your judgement.

Apparently some people need to hear this... Regardless of whether you're a CEO of a failing games company or Prime Minister of an entire country, "taking responsibility" requires more than simply saying "I take full responsibilty" and firing other people for your shortcomings!

Every time I notice someone at work who looks cool it turns out they're in the union. This has happened half a dozen times now. Clear proof: joining a union makes you cool.

Over 1000 workers laid off, while Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic Games is worth billions. By forming a strong union in your studio, we can fight for job security and more. The alternative is our livelihoods at the whims of out of touch CEOs. Join our union today: iwgb.org.uk/en/join/game...

In HMV and someone held up a vinyl and asked "What does it do? Is it a poster?" And I think I aged 30 years when the staff member explained "It plays music" 😭😭😭😭

Just played the first 15-20 mins of E33 and I gotta take it back. I don't think we gave that game enough awards actually. We should invent more, and give them to E33. Like right now. Holy crap. I think that's the second or third time a game has ever made me just... stop and sit there for a minute

This is the most ruthless act of union busting in the history of the UK games industry. Yesterday, @rockstargames.com unfairly fired over 30 employees for union activity. We won't back down, and we're not scared - we will fight for every member to be reinstated.
