A Paper Fortune Teller Zine! I'm very nostalgic for paper fortune tellers but I have a complex relationship with fortune telling itself, so I vented it here. #collage #papercrafts #zine

Card art I've been working on tonight. Not sure if this will be a final or just a draft. I've got some more outlandish ideas about what to do with the snake that may not look good outside of my imagination The name of this card is 'Tilling Hognose'

MANCY Update! I ended up postponing the first play test (which I wanted to do by the end of 2025) because my vision for it kept growing. Not a bad thing, I just felt that I'd get more helpful feedback by growing its scope. Now it's slated for 90 cards on test, of those I have about 61 implemented!

I plan to share lots more as that first play test nears (and then) occurs. The next few months should be very lively for me as I get closer to the Steam page going live and having a big group play it for the first time

Yesterday, the Epic Games Store decided at the last minute not to distribute the game, after having previously approved a release build. HORSES is otherwise now available on GOG, Itch, and Humble for $4.99. www.horses.wtf

Working on customizable icons for players to use during duels and I've got this guy as an option. I look for old images that have a whimsical element and I tend to find lots of good stuff

Added a nice little card flip effect whenever you draw cards! This is in 2D so it's actually a "fake" card flip, but it looks real and will even more so when you consider lighting + shaders. Entirely done in code through Godot's Tweens, which makes every part of the animation customizable

Sneak peak of a CPU Personality in MANCY. Every enemy type has their own personality that determines their style when dueling and, for some of them, when building their own decks. They have favorite cards, traits, most hated cards, and many other surprises in store

One of my more out there designs for a card element, but I'm very fond of it. I do a lot of mixing real world textures with digital elements, so I'm often on the lookout for interesting looks like this. This texture is from a series of 19th century French wallpapers that I found beautiful

Brain is feeling fried but progress on MANCY continues at high speeds! I'm on track for the first play test before the end of this year AND that play test is featuring more content than I originally planned 😁

Got to attend @oakcityindie.bsky.social yesterday and it was wonderful! It was my first time being at a game con of any sort, and it was a joy to meet so many passionate and talented people working in the same medium as me. I can't wait to join in with a booth of my own next year!

@scryfall.com Hey Scryfall quick question! I heard on the TapTapConcede recently that all the cards before a certain date are high res scans. I noticed you don't have a French scan of Tooth & Nail, how can I scan it to submit to the site?

Things that cost nothing - but is a HUGE help for any and all indie devs: Wishlisting - it gives games data to show publishers there is interest. Leave a Review - ESPECIALLY if you liked the game. Reviews on steam lead to the algo serving you up to others. Reposting - it's an attention economy.

Working on expanding the complexity of opponent's behavior in my game, Mancy, today and it's somewhat difficult but rewarding! In some ways it's easier than creating player options (because it's more predictable) but in other ways much harder because I'm trying to replicate a player's decisions

I should also add; you'll need to link your steam account and activate gold tier to vote in this round, which allows them to anonymously collect data about your playtime. You can also make an account without using my referral link, by going directly to the Blue Ocean Games site 😊

Just hearing about this...and I'm going to be putting together an early trailer of my currently unannounced card game to submit!

📢 Submissions for #RisingTide2 are OPEN! 📢 We've made it easier than ever with new 1-min teaser & 15-sec hook video requirements + improved voting. Don't wait! Dive in & learn more at blueoceangames.com, or join our community on Discord: buff.ly/6tMiTkb Launch trailer: buff.ly/xsEvQTn

Been thinking a lot about packs for my upcoming card game and there's so many cool ways to do them! They're becoming a bigger part of the concept than I originally envisioned and I think the game will be stronger for it 😁

without critique, magic is explicitly entrenching itself as a collectible over anything else. commander is collectible: the card game. UB is a collectible with bonus rules text (see: pokémon). sales prices reflect goals (see: pokémon). understand the game's future and decide what you want from it.

A question for other Godot devs. How do you handle signals that skip the inheritance hierarchy? I have a scene that handles player data, including HP and MP which have their own Nodes in that scene. Those two also show up on the UI, so I have the UI connected to signals emitted by the HP and MP....

nodes. Which the UI accesses through the PlayerData scene which it has a reference to, so in the UI _ready() it says something like: player_data.mana_node.current_mana_changed.connect(update_mana_label) I understand abstractly that this is poor practice, and that as a rule of thumb I should call....

down and signal up. But to me it seems more confusing to have the mana_node signal to player_data then have player_data emit that same signal to the UI. Any and all advice would be appreciated ☺️

After about two months away from it I've been working in Godot again and I've improved a lot! I'm developing better habits in code architecture and I have a much easier time knowing how things should be setup 😁 still planning to announce my first full release this year!
