“Mr. Trump’s second term has featured an overweening and oftentimes unrealistic emphasis on purity and innocence… When Mr. Trump decried ‘American carnage’ and promised to make America great again, Christian women were a receptive audience.” @kkdumez.bsky.social:

Blue morphos' wings have a big range of unrepresentable cyans. It's structural color, so pure frequencies, and all squarely in the blue green region screens can't show you. They look nothing like this.

Hilarious the Louisiana Gov and Senators are now asking Trump to federalize the Guard to take over New Orleans like supplicant subjects should. Let's remember. The Gov can do this any day of the week. That's what the Guard is. A state militia. Asking Trump to federalize them is some weird GOP kink.

Duckworth to Hegseth: "You are blowing through money like my fellow cadets and I did in our first liberty after basic camp. Luckily I didn't end up with a questionable tattoo ... you're just an unqualified yes man who can't tell the president how to keep Americans safe."

In 2021, I called on Andrew Cuomo to resign because I believed the allegations against him compromised his ability to lead. That decision was based on principle, not political convenience.

Breaking News: The Justice Department is investigating Andrew Cuomo over his testimony about the pandemic, shortly after it ended a case against Mayor Eric Adams.

Share with your NYC friends! (And can't these two guys be a ticket somehow?)

At last night's mayoral forum cosponsored by Hell Gate and NY Focus at the Public Theater, @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social asked @bradlander.bsky.social a question that Lander was more than ready to answer: What he thought was the worst thing Andrew Cuomo did as governor.

In terms of the number of Americans affected, and the direct power of the office, New York City Mayor is one of the 10 most powerful elected offices in the country. Cuomo getting it would be a huge setback not only to the city but the entire country.

Sam@samd.bsky.social

the number one goal for everyone left-of-center for the next 6 weeks should be making sure Andrew Cuomo doesn’t become mayor of the largest city in the country. even if you don’t live in NYC, you probably have friends or family who do. please tell them how awful Cuomo.

The evil rot in the NY Democratic Party - and broadly the party as a whole - is exposed in this NYTimes story. I don’t normally recommend reading the NYT, but this story captures it. No principles, nothing. PS do not under any circumstances rank Cuomo for Mayor, NYC.

The way people who once rightly criticized Cuomo's corruption and inappropriate behavior are folding and whitewashing everything is evocative of how Republican elites responded to Trump. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/06/n...

One thing @stewartbrand.bsky.social always says: “The difference between scenarios and the actual future is that scenarios have to be plausible in the present, but the future owes us no such obligation.” And indeed: we’re living a future that would’ve been utterly implausible in the in the past.

Nils Gilman@nilsgilman.bsky.social

A retro-scenario: It’s 1975. You’re a U.S. soldier in Saigon, looking for the last chopper out. Guy whispers in your ear, “50 years from today, the Communist General Secretary of Vietnam is going to be calling the U.S. President, pleading with him to embrace free markets.” nypost.com/2025/04/04/u...

I feel like we need to contact each of the signatories on the Harper’s letter individually and ask them if they are working on a new version.
