For the fabulously wealthy, paying taxes is pretty much optional. They can borrow against their vast wealth, which is mostly an untaxed capital gain, without paying taxes. When they die, the capital gain goes to zero. And loopholes exist to bypass the estate tax too.
“Billionaires who popularized stock-based lending include Larry Ellison and Elon Musk. Both borrow to avoid having to sell shares—which could trigger a taxes and dilute their voting rights—in companies they founded.”

It’s peak Trumpism when Republicans blow up a school full of Iranian Muslim girls and then call an American politician a terrorist because he’s Muslim.
"Fox News hosts are professional propagandists. I think they looked at Zacharia as someone who was not capable of covering for Donald Trump when he gets in trouble, someone who wouldn’t be able to lash out at the media for daring to cover him, and they helped her off stage because of that."
I keep saying this: Stephen Miller is trying hard to preemptively scapegoat someone ELSE in case the GOP loses Texas.
But they're naming him by name.

The Ramaswamy ad has pushed the largest newspaper in Ohio, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, to reverse its position on endorsements.
"A candidate who uses childhood sexual abuse as a weapon against the person who endured it has crossed a line that Ohioans should defend, whatever their party."
ICE thugs are sending immigrants to countries that they have never been to, because there are orders by judges protecting them from being returned to their home country due to persecution.
But these third party countries are sending them back to their home country, anyway.

10 years ago today, Trump’s DC hotel opened.
It taught him people will pay a sitting president, and there will be no repercussions.
Want to understand the second term’s corruption? Start with the hotel:
NEW: A federal judge has now ruled that former SDNY prosecutor, Maurene Comey, was UNLAWFULLY fired by the Trump DOJ. He orders her retroactive reinstatement and back pay.
Comey alleged in her lawsuit that she was fired for politically motivated reasons.

Reup: The non-answers Todd Blanche gave to Dana Bash and Margaret Brennan yesterday make total sense when you see how much he is pursuing the plot Jeffrey Clark planned on pursuing if HE had been made AG.
Clark's plan anticipated political violence.

Putin is meddling in the midterms to help Trump by once again mounting a covert disinformation operation that’s spreading phony sex abuse allegations about a Democrat. Ought to be big news.
From Zelenskyy. Patriot interceptors that could save innocent lives are sitting in European countries for weeks, which they paid for, unable to be transferred to Ukraine because Hegseth refuses to sign off.
First Musk said he did not disable Starlink for Ukraine. Now he's confessing to disabling it but says he was justified in doing so.
Congress, if you can hear me, we need hearings when Dems take over.

NEW: Brent Taylor is the front-runner for one of Memphis’ congressional districts, recently redrawn from majority Black to majority white.
As state senator, he repeatedly used his power to supersede local officials — and the will of the city’s voters.

Dunno, but this feels like one of those headlines from 2006 we were all looking back at in 2009 -- "Wall Street celebrates new ways or reducing mortgage risk" or the like.
"Meta unveiled a plan to raise up to $95 billion in waves of stock offering."

Watch this with Trump at his side, remember the dissents in the birthright citizenship case — www.lawdork.com/p/six-opinio... — and understand there are no limits, no places they wouldn’t go.
Rally speaker: "Mike Rogers is an American. Abdul has a birth certificate. The birth certificate says he's a citizen of America. You know what? a birth certificate doesn't make you an American."
Seems fairly obvious this is a must do when you read the sentence aloud, “Lawmakers in the U.S. from both parties have called for a formal probe into Musk and SpaceX over alleged unilateral changes the company made to its services in Ukraine.”
Musk said he restricted Starlink in Ukraine- causing fast moving drones to lose connectivity - and that he had every right to do so because of some terms of service or contract that he didn't show us. (He didn't address suddenly doing this with no warning to Kyiv.) www.cnbc.com/2026/10/24/u...
The fact that the president's doctors are giving him the dementia test over and over again -- tracking his decline, most likely -- and that the president keeps bragging about having to take that test should be a five-alarm fire.
Trump: "You know, the first question -- they have a lion, a snake, a giraffe, and a bear. And they say 'which is the snake?' ... by the time you get to number five a lot of people are left out on the road ... I get no credit for it."
Ramaswamy may have pulled his horrible ad featuring Amy Acton's mother, but it doesn’t erase that he publicly punished Acton for the horrible cards she was dealt, which is parents who provided an unsafe, unstable home. His moral compass does not exist and he’s unfit to lead Ohio.
Trump on data centers: "I say let them come in ... you should really be cool on data centers because you can make a fortune with the data centers" (Note the total silence of the crowd during this rant!)
More than 200 complaints regarding sexual violence at schools have been filed with the Education Department since the start of Trump’s second term.
The department has investigated only 29 of these, finding fault with a school district only once.
The Writers Guild on Musk blocking releasee of the documentary "Musk": "A small handful of billionaires now own virtually every major media company, news outlet, and social media platform and are demonstrating how this unchecked concentration over our news and media threatens democratic discourse."
I don’t get it. If the tariffs are great for America and are bringing back manufacturing and are one of Trump’s signature policies, why won’t the Republicans who refused to overturn them even mention them?
Ohio, let's do what we can to elect @amyactonoh.bsky.social as your next Governor and @sherrodbrownoh.bsky.social as your next U.S. Senator! They’ve dedicated their lives to fighting on behalf of all Ohioans.
Obama: "Imagine the power duo of Abdul and Elissa. You got a Muslim man, a Jewish woman, fighting for you in the US senate. That's something, Michigan, you can be proud of!"
The same US president who treats our friend Canada as an enemy is trying to give Alaska to Russia, a country whose absolutely overt foreign policy is to destroy us. This superpower suicide has to be stopped.

did you know the IRS hasn't actually measured tax evasion in over a decade?
due to lack of budget and workforce, the IRS is incapable of performing the random audits necessary to estimate tax evasion
they've been forced to reuse the same numbers from 2016
Talarico: You want to know why they are spending $200 million against me? Because I don’t take their corporate PAC money and I never will. I don’t work for them. I work for you.
When we flip this seat in Texas, I’m going to vote to ban corporate PACs so billionaires can’t buy our elections.
NEW: Ingram, Texas, was just rebuilding from a devastating flood when its tiny police department enrolled in ICE’s 287(g) deportation program.
Within a year, cops would hand over the equivalent of 10% of the town.
