"AI" doesn't exist yet. You meant to say "image generator" or "language model". Anyone using the term "AI" is either selling, or using, the digital equivalent of snake oil. Also, they're stealing the work of people who are *actually* talented, because they don't have a creative bone in their body.

In Engish, turkeys are named after the country Turkiye. In Turkiye, they're called "Hindi" named after India. In Hindi, they're sometimes called "Peru" named after...Peru. In Peru they're called "pavo" named after peacocks. Peacocks don't have a word for turkeys.

1. LLM-generated code tries to run code from online software packages. Which is normal but 2. The packages don’t exist. Which would normally cause an error but 3. Nefarious people have made malware under the package names that LLMs make up most often. So 4. Now the LLM code points to malware.

If you're tired of windows, adobe, etc... I've been solely using linux for around 10 years and around 3 years doing full freelance work with it. Linux is a solid alternative.

And update on my Linux journey, a couple of weeks back I decided to daily drive Fedora as an experiment to see if it was possible to use it instead of windows as a game dev/3D artist. I was surprised with how well it ran and performed and with proton almost all game from steam ran out of the box.

Assuming we make it through the whole “prevent fascists from taking over our government” thing, this country needs to follow through with a very uncomfortable conversation on getting rid of Fox News permanently. They are a hostile propaganda arm for evangelical white nationalists.

ABC News: "An unthinkable breach of national security." CBS News: "An unthinkable breach of national security." MSNBC: "An unthinkable breach of national security." CNN: "An unthinkable breach of national security." Fox News: "We've all texted the wrong person before."

i sound like a broken record at this point but i think one of the most damaging developments in internet communities (and also the internet in general) is creating spaces where any unqualified idiot is allowed to be wrong as fuck as long as they "mean well" and you're not allowed to be mean to them

Great news for Bandcamp Pro or label account users! You can now link your Bandcamp subdomain to your Bluesky handle. This integration helps strengthen your online presence and makes it easier for fans to find you and your music. Here’s how to do it:

His track record speaks for itself. While we continue to resist, we should take comfort in that he is deeply incompetent, not very bright & his policies are hurting even his most devoted supporters. Let's not get in the way of his inevitable self-destruction.

90% of writing happens away from the keyboard. In the shower. On a walk. In the car. Wherever you & your thoughts are alone together, that's when writing happens. If you find yourself stuck, staring at a blinking cursor, unable to find the words, don't be afraid to step away & find somewhere quiet.

I'm not sure which of you need to hear this, but: If you push yourself to your limits and burn out for a company, you are trading years of your future productivity for minor gains in the present. Burning out will _fuck you up_, it's like brain fog or depression, and it takes years to recover

I'm not trying to be flippant, but those people need to talk to someone (in person), because their constant crisis spiral isn't mine to shoulder. Levity is not a bad thing? Joy and humor and silliness are morally wrong? Discussing Mario's career choices isn't the ultimate betrayal to America 😭😭

With the demise of Joann's, I'm going to share a few online resources I've found. It's by no means exhaustive, but hopefully it helps folks find what they need. 🧵

Joann, a destination for generations of lovers of crafts projects for 80 years, is going out of business and shuttering all its stores
