In January, Hello Darkness #29 kicks off "The Haunt Without: A Vic Hammond Mystery," a 3-part story by me and @neogi.bsky.social starring a character we co-created: Vic Hammond, PI…that is to say, Victory Hammond (a Nigerian/Ghanaian British woman living in New York City), Paranormal Investigator

The achievement of Serbian students overthrowing Aleksandar Vučić can't be overstated. In 2024, they began protesting. In 2025, they transformed a protest movement into civil dissidence. In 2026, they became a political party — and two months later, crushed a corrupt state-entrenched authoritarian.

This is sincere…I started writing Vic Hammond like any other character, then something magic happened and it was out of my hands. She came alive like no one I've written before. Then Devaki drew her, and that's it, she's a real person now. I love her. Cannot WAIT to see Vic Hammond out in the world!

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

Even setting aside the self-promotional hustle, just look at that cover…every creator listed on there is awesome. You gotta get this issue

Almost everything I write has some little wink or nod at Puerto Rico, for my people, even when the comic isn’t remotely about Puerto Rico. For example an upcoming thing features a character called “Harris Paine,” that one’s a deep cut

I feel obliged to once again reiterate that lay offs and closures are not a reaction to the economy, but a failure of leadership. Each wave of closures and layoffs should be looked upon as a consequence of greed and incompetence. If you can't keep your people employed, you are bad at your job.

Puerto Rico movie tickets are the only thing in the world where prices have stayed the same. I just bought a ticket to see The Devils tonight, normally it would have been $7, but because it's Tuesday, it was $5

In 2015 i hired Bilquis Evely to draw this cover for Valiant and Matheus Lopes to color it—it was their first collaboration ever and in fact it was how they met and ended up becoming partners in art and in life. I only know this because Bilquis and Mat just told it to me at NYCC 2026. News to me!!

Visiting my mom means sitting calmly in the living room, reading, when suddenly she'll drift past like a ghost in the hallway floating from the kitchen into another room, wailing in despair, "Who's going to eat all these bananas??"

"Bill, we want to bring you back for a part in our new blockbuster, Raiders of the Lost Ark." "You're not gonna call me 'Porkins' again, are you?" "No." "What's my character's name?" "Major Eaton." "Fuck you, George"

Only my third day at home in Puerto Rico and I heard the morning call of "aaaaaa-zucenas" coming down the street! A visit from Saúl Dávila, the man who's famously been walking around San Juan hand-selling azucenas for 50 years. First time I've ever seen him. This picture's from the internet.

My mom says it's only in the last 1-2 years he must have figured out his flowers sell in this neighborhood because now she says he's up and down these streets nearly every day
