This is the definition of cruel and unusual punishment.
She had a delay to her execution and the Supreme Court overruled it and said she could be killed.
She survived TWO lethal injections and had to be transported to hospital.
The death penalty must be abolished:
One insurance denial for Teressa’s husband stated, “your newborn does not meet the criteria for coverage.”
“This is when I really start to think they’re just denying,” she recalled. “They’re not even looking. They’re just ‘deny, deny, deny.’”

Nearly twice as old as the dinosaurs, horseshoe crabs have been crawling ashore for over 450 million years.
Sadly, their populations have plummeted by more than 70% in recent decades.
So we just announced our intent to sue the federal government for denying them #ESA protections.

ICE is being deployed to airports today as the GOP refuses to fund TSA. Here's border czar Tom Homan: "There's a lot of things that TSA does it doesn't require like specialized training, right? ... ICE can check identification before people enter the screening area."
Care leavers who got £2,000 were: more likely find stable housing, less likely to sofa-surf, less likely to be arrested or have a criminal conviction, more likely to visit GPs or drop-in clinics, less likely to have overnight hospital stays, and spending on alcohol, tobacco, or drugs dropped by 12%.

Overcrowded facilities, poor medical care, and deaths in custody.

Given events in the past 24 hours, it might have been helpful for the United States to be able to speak to Iranians in Farsi, their official language.
But the incompetent children at Doge dismantled Voice of America, cutting off that communication and ultimately not saving the US a penny.
USAGM today urgently called back to work the staff of the Voice of America's Farsi language service. All had been on paid admin leave for the past three months with the rest of VOA's silenced journalists.
Donald Trump was *humiliated* yesterday. Make no mistake, a man with such a brittle ego will lash out at innocent people to pretend he controls the narrative. He doesn't. We do.
We won’t amplify it, but the president posting that Dems are “sick of mind” and “hate our country” immediately after 2 Dem lawmakers and their spouses were shot in their homes is the opposite of leadership. Gas on the fire.
This should be a national debate, not an executive power grab.
📌 The Posse Comitatus Act prevents the president from using the military as a domestic police force.
ICE is denying people the right to due process, abducting and trafficking them to foreign countries and locking them up indefinitely in dangerous prisons.
Now they’re preparing the military to deploy on US soil and in our communities to help.
This is authoritarianism.
Banks are aiming to issue cryptocurrency.
Lawmakers just put a line in the GENIUS Act saying when a bank issuing crypto goes bankrupt, crypto investors get paid before regular depositors.
In other words: your savings account becomes crypto’s bailout fund.

Around the time that Kilmar Abrego Garcia was indicted in the Middle District of Tennessee, the chief of the criminal division in that district posted this on LinkedIn:
“Earlier today, after nearly 15 years as an Assistant United States Attorney, I resigned…”
BREAKING: Chief Judge James Boasberg finds that those people sent to CECOT under the Alien Enemies Act on March 15-16 had their due process rights violates and certifies them as a class. He orders that the government "facilitate" the ability for them to seek habeas relief.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but this analogy of “Lady Liberty’ held captive, is exactly how I feel about this presidency & administration and what their attempting to do with our rights and freedoms…
The New Yorker captured the feelings perfectly…
One word, UNACCEPTABLE!
Lee Jae-myung, the South Korean politician who climbed the fence of the parliament to get inside and vote against martial law, has been elected president. Pretty cooool
I think we’ve reached a boiling point when it comes to ICE.
Today in Minneapolis, a militarized task force raided the beloved Lake Street taqueria, Las Cuatro Milpas—and the community was not having it.
Agents from ICE, the DEA, FBI, ATF, IRS and HHS rolled up looking like they were ready for war.
I put much work into this.
DOJ is trying to block courts' access to info in #AbregoGarcia and Alien Enemies Act cases by asserting it is a "state secret."
I walk through the clear case law on this topic.
I provide a Table of senior officials' statements that preclude the state secret privilege.
One of the most significant cases with far-reaching effects, which I've previously flagged to watch.
On motion to dismiss, Judge Chutkan finds for plaintiffs on both counts:
-Musk's position is in violation of Appointments Clause
-DOGE Executive Order is without statutory or constitutional basis
Indeed, and notice a pattern:
Judge Xinis May 27: DOJ "expended no effort in demonstrating good cause. ... These self-described burdens are of their own making."
Judge Murphy May 26: DOJ "have mischaracterized this Court’s order, while at the same time manufacturing the very chaos they decry."
JUST IN; Judge Paula Xinis benchslaps DOJ for waiting until today to ask for usually routine extension of deadline to answer complaint in Kilmar Abrego Garcia deportation lawsuits. Doc: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
Ordered to file the response to the Abrego Garcia complaint today, after Judge denies their last-minute motion for extension ) DOJ files a same-old same-old response.
NEWS: DOJ filed its motion to dismiss Kilmar Abrego Garcia's case tonight. The argument basically comes down to a lot of what is before Boasberg in the Alien Enemies Act case over the would-be class at CECOT already.
Filing: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
In what is shaping up to be a huge day for democracy in the lower federal courts, at least, Judge Chutkan rules that the case against DOGE can proceed.
One in four workers in the US is now “functionally unemployed,” meaning they either want but can’t find full-time work or are stuck in poverty-paycheck jobs. A higher minimum wage alone can't solve this because it would increase automation and decrease hours. We need a universal basic income floor.
Cases of a new #Covid variant are circulating in China—the worst coronavirus levels in about year. Infections are being detected by the CDC's airport screening program, which identified a surge in the NB.1.8.1 variant. Cases have been reported among arriving travelers at multiple major US airports 👇
JUST-RELEASED GEORGIA TEEN Ximena Arias-Cristobal: “Even having the right paperwork doesn’t mean anything anymore with the presidency we have now… just being Hispanic you’re a target.”
