The thing about translation news sites like RHDN is that they represent *curation* - ways for people to make sense of what's happening in the scene, what's happening out there. RHDN's "just take everything" stance is breaking down in the face this much spam.

I looked through the last 100 English fan translations published on RHDN (over 3 weeks), and at least 74 are AI translations. I didn't realize this was the current state of the hobby. Make of that what you will.

Kinda glad I rewrote aeongenesis.net a few years back honestly, not that the older site used much php outside of its forum. PHP still powers my bug tracker but going from 7.2 to 8.4 (and updating the bug tracker) was a relatively low lift.

There's some styling issues with file uploads in the new version of the tracker, but otherwise everything's working fine. So, we're proceeding as normal.

Laplace's Demon (1987) was a horror-themed RPG by Hummingbird Soft first released for the PC-88 and 98 in Japan and later, for the Super Famicom in 1995. Set in 1924, players choose a profession then embark on an investigation with others to the haunted mansion, Weathertop Hall. (a ghostly thread)

Protip for anyone with a dishwasher: if you ever clean out your dishwasher's trap filter, use thick rubber gloves and/or some kind of scraper tool or brush. I was pulling paper napkin out of ours last night and sliced my finger open on a piece of broken glass I didn't realize was there.

Thankfully it wasn't bad enough that it needed stitches (or cauterization like when I sliced part of one of my fingers off earlier this year) but getting a bandaid on a fingertip for containment is still a pain in the butt. So. Protip.

Started the new Castlevania last night and had a really weird experience. While exploring between the 1st and 2nd bosses, *something* really brought me out of the game and I started seeing the world as just a series of carefully-planned platforms and platform challenges, rather than as a *world*.

Carmen Sandiego was only $5, but as-is/not working. Gonna to try to repair! And I traded a few items to offset the cost of Princess Tomato. Noturno is an indie Castlevania only released in Brazil! Been looking for the Desert Commander manual for a while as a handy reference for the game's units!
