I am not going to engage in stereotypes but I don't think my bank could have picked a more qualified person to help me with this

the did:plc ledger being (in the coming months) under the custody its own Swiss organisation/association seperate from the Bluesky Peanut Butter LLC is a big step forward in reducing the control that company has over the AT network did:plc is *still* a centralised point of the network, but...

Hello World from the PLC organization (plcred.org)! The org was soft-announced back in March at AtmosphereConf. We've been working through logistics step by step and now have a public web presence we can point to.

every time i forget that these people exist and then get very much reminded that there are in fact people who are That Bad

Just so this doesn’t keep happening, remember to tell your local fox that they’re hot.

@figma.com i got excited by the words 'custom shaders' and then immediately disappointed by the fact that only the AI is allowed to write them and our tiny little human brains would never be able to comprehend so we're not allowed

(it seems to work with the Apple calendar apps on iPhone & macOS & the Google Calendar website, but not with the LineageOS built in calendar app, so you might need to import it on the web/another device using a synced calendar to get it to work )

and when we talked to the people in charge of these platforms they simply did not care. our goal of allowing users to just use whatever ctap devices they want to use was explicitly not part of their product goals.

bsky is definitely the decentralised platform of all time just figured out why I couldn't log into my account (it would just infinite loading loop until I cleared cookies)

the official bluesky clients don't implement PDS discovery (a part of the spec for years) and ask you to enter your PDS address manually. if you forget: it will let you log in, but you will get stuck infinite loading and unable to sign out, or at least get "jwt signature does not match jwt issuer"

and also, if you think about it: authentication working must mean that, even though I migrated off 8 months ago, bsky is still retaining my account. so, if I look at devtools, most requests fail, bsky pds still responds with email & preferences (such as list of feeds) as they were when i left

to preempt the inevitable: no idont think whats happening over there isn't important but I dont live in the US it is not something that is directly relevant to me to justify as disproportionate amount of space on my TL over here as it does. also hot take, but infinite horrible shit feed bad actually

fwiw: if anyones running their own PDS and use caddy as a reverse proxy: you should avoid putting this in your caddy file to ensure you are compliant with all local laws

yeah it's great, and it does the check when the app starts, so if you just turn a VPN, restart the app, turn it off, ???, profit there's a uBlock rule which can bypass it, and I configured my PDS to redirect requests to that URL to always respond as age verified, but they either changed or patched
