I have mentioned in previous year-end videos that I'll try to release a video every two weeks (Saturday mornings) however work and life takes priority. Right now I'm trying to sort through some time-sensitive paperwork and I will need to take a break for a bit while this hopefully gets sorted.

US shipping restrictions are kinda killing the fun but I love calling people’s “ I wish I had that” bluff and sending people stuff I don’t need anymore.

I think during COVID something was lost. More people got into vintage electronics expecting to get their money back and people forgot you can always take a loss and give things away. I could of asked $200 for this Roland plotter, but instead I paid shipping and sent it to someone else.

I’m rocking the boat and keep buying things on eBay to trip-up customs to liquidate it and so far everything has arrived. >_> Here, have an excellent condition reel to reel machine with an audio issue.

“Just watch how in just one video you will INSTANTLY feel 25 years older! I Guarantee It! BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! It’s also another great LGR video that you get at no extra cost! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? YES YOU CAN!!”

this is a QUARTER CENTURY old now youtu.be/GAv1EwoRnec Back to 2001 on LGR today for a retrospective on Windows XP! Reminiscing on its release, unboxing and setting it up, new features, games, screensavers, and a bunch of nifty early 2000s things. Still a truly enjoyable eXPerience decades later!

After being told for 20something years to watch Battlestar Galactica (the newer series) I finally saw a few episodes yesterday end-to-end and..... Who here has watched a soap opera? Who has seen The Days of Our Lives? The plot progression felt exactly like a daytime soap opera, but in space.

For you folks out there who own a nice and shiny '82 Eagle, in a recent purchase of parts I also received the owner's manual along with maintenance schedule/reference. You can now find both on the Internet Archive! archive.org/details/AMCe... archive.org/details/ECaR...

archive.org1982 AMC Eagle Owner's ManualThe 160 page glove compartment owner's manual you would receive with your vehicle when it was purchased. Contains basic vehicle information as well as service information and driving information.

It's been half an hour. I can't tell if this is the stupidest thing I have ever read or the guy pulled a 4D chess move and saw the side-hustle of flipping storage unit computers 50 years before that became a thing.

40 years ago today the 1986 World's Fair (better known as Expo 86) would officially close, marking the second successful World's Fair Canada had thrown in only 19 years and last time the Expo would ever take place in North America.

I was feeling greasy watching the #kamloops mayoral candidate debate on TV, so I had to counter it with some greasy fast food.

Understanding that medically this week was a write-off because I can't hold a soldering iron, there will be a video tomorrow but there will be nothing spoken and you only see my face for half a second. I hope you like watching people build stuff. :P

Parents are watching something on tv and there is some crazy variances here from the timeline of reality. My god History Channel is garbage.

Also apparently the Alto now is a fully graphical computer that’s running with icons and menus and stuff…..except they are glossing this thing over with Viewpoint, which was never on the Alto and was released in the 80’s.

I gotta stop watching this. The core timeline is correct but the facts are so broadly distorted or so badly misrepresented that it almost feels malicious.

October continues to prove I only win the worst lottery prizes. Through a *comical* series of errors, a soldering iron I was holding was launched from my hand and I have burned my lips quite badly. This is not funny. This is extremely painful. for obvious reasons, no videos for a while.

I can’t believe we are already a week short if 15 years since we lost Dennis Ritchie. We’ll I guess today is a great day to reflect on everything he gave to the world of computing. You are reading this using something based on his work.

Drat! The super-specific terminal I've been looking for finally surfaced, but it's owned by a prop rental service and isn't actually for sale.

I feel better knowing I'm not the only person who feels that the battery repairs for these are nothing short of unsanctioned torture.

New blog post! It's fall, when our thoughts turn to repairing battery-damaged Sharp microcomputers. Maybe that's just me. www.leadedsolder.com/2026/09/29/x... #retrocomputing #x68000

Broken selfie stick, $3 clown nose and a bit of rubber cement. Now I got a telescoping pointing stick! *Fear Me!*. >:D

I dug something out of storage the other day that I'm kinda proud of but it never ended up getting completed. A video about it will be up tomorrow.

Here's a few other photos I considered for the thumbnail. The scratches and glare made it annoyingly hard to really present a lot of detail on the screen.

The ferrous nature of JB Weld means that something as easy as gluing a magnet to a driveshaft can be a chore. It keeps sucking up all of the epoxy and wearing it rather than letting it puddle underneath.

I should add that until 2023 the Clarion Inn and Waterford Banquet Centre in Elmhurst was the location for previous VCF MidWest events, after it had relocated once before from the Holiday Inn. (which has since been demolished)
