I got chomped by a big dog last year. Fortunately I was wearing tough jeans and the dog didn’t get through. I had abrasions though. I was all ready to get the rabies shots but they said there hasn’t been rabies in Oregon for 20 years. They just gave me a round of antibiotics. And I didn’t get rabies!

You have to have love enough to understand innocent beings with violence potential in order to win their trust. Then you have to have hunger enough to willingly betray and destroy them for pay because... limited resources. Being a dogcatcher is the ultimate moral vs material test of a human mind.

They tried to politicise Police Commissioners here in the UK, but people either spoiled their voting papers or left them blank. So now they've gone back to appointing them on merit.

The proliferation of elected officers in the US and the need to raise funds to fight elections is the basis of most corruption in that country.

This kind of straightforward setup-punchline dialogue feels so uncharacteristic of XKCD but I always like it when it shows up.

I've never seen a dogcatcher on a ballot. But I guess the Register of Wills lobby is unexpectedly large and powerful, otherwise they seem like the most useless down ballot position. Shouldn't that be a civil service job?

This is now officially my third-fave XKCD. (I doubt anything can ever top "Sets of Seven" and "Correct Horse Battery Staple" but I look forward to being proven wrong.)
