If you reversed the positions of Harris and Trump, everything from fundraising to early vote numbers to the polling itself, we would basically be writing her campaign obituary rn

How are we, as a country, going to deal with the fact that a substantial percentage of our population supports a raving lunatic not in spite of his overtly fascist rhetoric, but because of it? Especially when most of our institutions won't even acknowledge this fact?

Harris and Walz should sit down for serious interviews (e.g., beat reporters, podcasters with expertise in a policy area) as well as unserious interviews (e.g., Hot Ones, fun Tiktok accounts) but absolutely avoid unserious interviewers who think they are serious (e.g., political reporters).

I know in my brain that millions of people will vote for Trump and the election will be close. But my heart can't ignore the incredible delta in crowd size and enthusiasm, candidate energy, fundraising, and even trivial things like celebs. How are we not on the verge of a historic blowout?

What really gets me is when these people decry attempting incremental wins as so difficult as to be impossible... but apparently consider ushering in systemic revolution to be trivial, contingent "only" on winning the hearts of a critical mass of the populace?

One thing I'm coming to appreciate in my attempt to engage in good faith with leftists on this platform is that they are not actually very collectivist. They don't act like they appreciate that they will need to build a huge - and therefore diverse - coalition to actually make the changes they want.

Hi there. I have a podcast ready to launch, but podcast companies have all turned me down because the industry's in bad shape and I wanna do real reporting. I’m considering launching a membership to fund the show and I need your input. If you could please fill out this short survey. Thanks!

bit.lyAlex Goldman - Membership SurveyI recently posted on my Substack about my frustrations with the current state of the podcasting industry. I've got what I believe is a strong concept for a new podcast—something I'm very excited to pu...

I've been thinking about this post a lot and, while I think Michael makes a strong case, I have some problems that I didn't see other people raise: 1. This is the big one -- lots of good people live in red states and punishing them for the sins of the assholes in Congress is bad.

They held up Hurricane Sandy funds forever because it was going to benefit a blue state. When covid hit they at first thought it was no big deal because it was hitting NJ and NY hardest. Dems need to learn how to play the prisoners dilemma against a side that always betrays.

2. Dems would be punished for this orders of magnitude more than the GOP is. Red state governors would be on Fox around the clock complaining that "the Democrat party doesn't care about real America" while the rest of the media piles on. And a big chunk of the Democratic coalition would not like it.

3. All of this might be worth it if it forced the GOP to change their behavior, but I don't think it would. Owning the libs is an essential element of being one of those assholes. They get rewarded for acting like this. We would get punished.

Although Florida's six-week abortion ban will soon take effect, Florida residents should remember that providers in blue states can prescribe and mail medication abortion straight to your door, typically in 1-5 days, at no legal risk to you. aidaccess.org
