Tate is going to be even angrier now and, for a while at least, it's important to laugh and laugh loudly at him & his mini edge lord chat room. Same w S'ad in Danforth. She got her angry-man endorsements with Kinsella, but she was a blip at the box. The internet is not real. Keep it that way.

Extremely funny to go "I can't believe the Poles didn't insitute reforms that would have upset Moscow" with a header image of What Happens When You Upset Moscow

There's an interesting line to be drawn between Lula's victory and Chow's victory, what with both having sought to tax and spend, but this would require anti-bedtimeism tendencies to actually look into their respective policies and accept what even mild socialism *is*

IntegrityTO lost. The edge lord poverty porn make fun of a Chinese accent posts didn’t work. The internet is not reality. Thank god.

One of the reasons why I‘m really happy Olivia Chow won re-election by a big margin is this time (and last time) she explicitly ran on raising taxes to plug the city’s financial crisis. Really good precedent that fantasyland slopulism wasn’t rewarded for once.

Brad Bradford... Doug Ford… Tobi Lukte… IntegrityTO… Warren Kinsella…your boys just took a hell of a beating!

"Development capitalism is a historically progressive force in smashing the urban gentry," send tweet.

"We won't use it, and we won't lose it and we won't let it change" is at the heart of British NIMBYism.

TBH, with a literal handful of exceptions, you can have the old high street back if you are willing to knock down and densify the actual buildings on, in and around the high street.

A life well lived. Incredible character actor

on the internet people will call almost anything liberalism. war with iraq, death by firing squad, npic infighting, everything. so a few weeks ago at liberal currents, we put out a challenge to all the editors: what is liberalism, actually? today we get our first essay, from lc founder adam gurri:

I once got into an argument with someone when I pointed out that this is the textbook example of a revealed preference, which is how I learned that a whole bunch of people think that "revealed preferences" are bad things that only big evil corporations corporations do.

Local citizen implores you to VOTE

Ever notice how you don’t really get any think-pieces whenever a bunch of left wing parties get elected all at once?

I guess a lot of people who wrote thinkpieces about how Latin America was on an unstoppable wave to the Right now might need to do some quick edits before they get published tomorrow

Has to be said that a great thing about Lula is he is a champion grade hater

Lula is only going to go after they pass the McDonnell Amendment at Conference.

I‘ve spent many years trying to explain to Canadians the glory of Nando‘s

Please consult the chart to determine our state on the trajectory

A weird change that has taken place in my lifetime is that in the past, British racists were aware of what mixed-race people were and were furious about it, as opposed to the New Racism, which frequently seems actively confused by the birds and the bees.

There’s probably a good essay to be written about the state and visibility of the Filipino diasporas solely though where and when Jolibee opens up

Unsung thing about Toronto elections is how many city employees take time from their usual jobs to train then spend 12+ hours tomorrow running the election sites across the city. They get paid, but it's a real marathon. Can't leave the polling site all day. The civil service, a thing to cherish.

I think a lot about the sky news interview with Poroshenko where he's carrying an AK and scoffing at the idea that he shouldn't have gone back

The idea of ‘the 99%’ is among the worst things to ever happen to progressive political ideology

All the discourse about James Bond being a hopelessly outdated relic of the Cold War has to contend with the fact that the best James Bond film was released in 1995.
