Six years since the height of the pandemic, the scientific community remains baffled by long Covid. But there might finally be a way forward for long Covid treatment—if only you were allowed to talk about it.

@sharpflower.bsky.social Public Health Media Club episode???
„Humans need hope and change“
But it's not because they have discovered some kind of secret. It's not because the wugu are killing you, or Nature Is Castigating Those Who Don't Masticate, or seed oils are the devil. It's b/c humans need hope and change, and one of the easiest ways to provide it is in the form of dietary ritual.
I've had long COVID for more than six years. There is no brain retraining that can help me. My neuro has tried everything. You probably would have recovered anyway, and are erroneously attributing your recovery to brain training. There is no support for brain retraining in the SARS-CoV-2 literature.
A list of some of the other issues with this article: Wessely and Sharpe's claims about being threatened have come up in court. The court found them "grossly exaggerated" and said that "no threats have been made either to researchers or participants." me-pedia.org/w/images/0/0...
Paul Garner's similar claims came up years later, but worth noting that he runs in the same circle. He has co-authored with PACE trial researchers at least three different times. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37434321/ www.theguardian.com/society/2021... www.bmj.com/content/389/...
Paul Garner is also on the board of trustees of Sense About Science, an org founded by a former tobacco industry lobbyist and "known to take positions that buck scientific consensus or dismiss emerging evidence of harm." senseaboutscience.org/who-we-are/b... theintercept.com/2016/11/15/h...
Wessely at one point sat on the advisory council for Sense About Science and was given an award by them in 2012. senseaboutscience.org/activities/2... web.archive.org/web/20160517...
This is simply inaccurate. Longcovid is a physical disease - you can see it in RNA changes in patients. There are dozens of medical researchers interviewed by the excellent Long Covid Sessions podcast, that qualify this: www.tlcsessions.net/episodes
@wired.com and you believe this so sincerely, you’ll all be happy to accept Long Covid blood, right? 🩸 #ThisIsNotJournalism
Covid is the problem. Long Covid is the result. Don't focus on the result, fix the problem first. 🌬️ #CovidIsAirborne #LongCovid #CovidIsntOver
💯% of new long Covid cases are caused by Covid infections. We need stories about avoiding infection. About stopping spread. About ending the pandemic. Do MORE to stop the spread. We're not 'since' anything. #CovidIsAirborne #CovidIsntOver #StopTheSpread #MaskUp #StayHome

Becca Kennedy, the former lead of a multistate long Covid specialty group for Kaiser Permanente, has a controversial theory. She believes long Covid belongs to a family of chronic conditions that occur when the brain gets stuck in a feedback loop of fight or flight. www.wired.com/story/the-pa...
The result is a cascade of symptoms she attributes to nervous system dysfunction. The solution, Kennedy argues, is retraining the brain to break the loop. www.wired.com/story/the-pa...
WIRED contributor Alan Levinovitz has spoken with a dozen formerly bedbound sufferers who credit brain retraining with partial or full recoveries from severe long Covid and other conditions. Hundreds more have shared testimonials about a range of similar approaches. www.wired.com/story/the-pa...
But outside of the community, such recovery stories are frequently met with skepticism and frustration. www.wired.com/story/the-pa...
The guy who has repeatedly written about why biophysical disabilities are not real and people are faking in articles and a book did it again! And you let him “There is no such thing as Long Covid” Alan Levinovitz yesterday to a journalist with Long Covid on Twitter www.celiac.com/celiac-disea...
Never hire a writer with a history of calling people disability fakers Never hire a writer with a history of discrediting experts in different biophysical conditions saying they’re “psychogenic” and “do not exist“ as he did with Long Covid and other conditions www.celiac.com/celiac-disea...
how about developing anti-virals to help with viral persistance? pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...
Pity the author didn't review the negative studies in PAIS. Brain Retraining doesn't work. New preliminary data from the AIR trial is a good example. The effect is similar to natural recovery & fluctuations of the disease. Gupta scored even a bit worse than TAU. www.linkedin.com/posts/me-cfs...
The Long Covid Sessions podcast has interviewed many researchers who do in fact find it a physical disease www.tlcsessions.net/episodes
Please stop with this pseudoscience. Brain retraining does not treat or cure long COVID. You need to review the science. All half million plus pieces of it. Articles like yours are harmful to long COVID sufferers. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/research/cor...
This seems appropriate for their office wall … #ME is a physical illness. Stop with the psychobabble. @thewiremagazine.bsky.social
That @wired.com hit piece on Long COVID was actually a masterclass in gaslighting. Name-drop the hard science, only to dismiss it. Make it sound like all sides of this "debate" have legitimate arguments. It's the Climate Hoax all over again. "Climate skeptics are afraid of activist backlash".
Not your best effort @wired.com Quite retro! It's not the weird protocol you're touting here but the fact you cite old discredited disinfo/propaganda instead of any if the plethora of cutting-edge research. Promising results here: thesicktimes.org/2025/10/10/v...
Please document yourself appropriately on the pathophysiology and the biomedical evidence on #LongCovid e.g. www.mdpi.com/2673-8112/6/...
