It's a joke that was being shared around Reddit a bunch in 2021. www.google.is/search?q=afr... ChatGPT probably just "learned" it from there. It has no way to "double check", because LLMs don't "see" letters - they "see" tokens. Every spelling task they must custom-learn.
AI brainrot caused by human brainrot. This was a common joke in 2021. www.google.is/search?q=afr...
The whole thing is so you don't leave Google when looking for information, and they can do this because they have a monopoly, and most people don't know other search engines exist. Funnily enough there's an anti-trust lawsuit going on right now, and most people haven't heard about it either.
To be clear, this is the page. Yes there is an element of "garbage in garbage out" since the human was the first to say there was no such country, but, even so, a better response would have started with the word "incorrect"... www.emergentmind.com/posts/did-yo...
lmao I just realized where it's getting this answer. It's from a forum that states this as an example of how stupid ChatGPT responses are news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3714....
This is what I think happened bsky.app/profile/hele...
Oh my. I think I figured out what happened here. Some kid on r/teenagers posted "it's a fact that there are no countries in Africa that start with K" so that when someone replied Kenya, he could respond "Kenya suck on deeznuts?" But the AI bots scraping the web for facts don't recognize dumb jokes.
I googled something health-related and the first quote result came from suredeoderant.co.uk Enshittified does not even begin to cover this
