I'd say much more aggressive: The Browser Company got acquired by atlassian for example but it seems to me they didn't have massive layoffs and there was no price increase to products

Good call. Imagine spending years of your life and a lot of passion building a product based on solid technological and ethical principles and then selling it to the guys who drove users away from what used to be a good product. NGL, "hate it" seems appropriate.
