no need for monitoring at all so rfk and trump cut it. “too much regulation”. Without regulation companies will always try for the highest profits. The incompetence is staggering.

The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour. futurism.com/science-ener...

Haven't bought anything green and leafy since this started. Not going to loose too many nutrients. rather than getting diarrhea which would add to my already painful life from multiple spinal injuries and surgeries I will pass on the stuff for now.

Even after all of the terrible things that the American government has done to the people of the world, it still surprises me to think that the average American voted in favour of this, or at the very least, stood by and did nothing as their friends and family have been quite literally poisoned.

This is why concentrating a sector into a few business’ is so dangerous. If it goes down, nothing gets processed. If it was more a collective, one would go down , but 10 other business’ will be there to continue making food or baby formula. Plus there’s the added benefit of competition.

Good job, Reuters, for not using a photo of Taco Bell as top photo in this piece. I'm sure temptation was there but you deserve props for learning and growing.

Sure, they rolled back food safety regulations and now people are getting sick and even dying as a result, but at least that one kid won't get to play on the middle school volleyball team, so MAGA wins again. TAKE THAT, LIBS!

They should be, and hopefully also in jail. Knowing our luck, the greedy bastards running that company would just end up working in the Trump administration.

The irrationality of the actions of GOP and Trump in cutting essential agencies that safeguard our health, food supply, and emergency preparedness, all seem to indicate that the purpose of these actions is to just kill us all and then some other entity will take over the land. It's incomprehensible.

Too bad there was not some sort of oversight, regulatory and testing organization that could prevent this . . . I'm sure cutting those rules is going to be more costly to their purse and reputation because #ETTD.

Rand Paul and the other conspiracy theorists( NUTS ) are attacking a man who helped SAVE lives from a Pandemic, while the big corporations in the FOOD INDUSTRY are CUTTING CORNERS to SAVE 💵, which is causing an Epidemic of TAINTED FOOD,SPREADING SICKNESS & DEATH!! The GREED is KILLING US! #VOTEBLUE

Instead of just regurgitating (pun intended) the information they feed you, how about some investigation? We don't interact with Taylor Foods. We interact with grocery stores. Which private grocery brands are impacted? My Ingles Harvest Farms salsa has no information about where it comes from.

I have contacted them to ask if this is implicated in the recall. Yes, I have a jar in my frig right now. I'll give them 24 hours then I'll call whatever agency monitors food safety in my state. Surely, there is some law that requires they divulge where they source their food.

Wait, I thought Taylor Farms was safe because they gave Trump money? Are you telling me that I can't trust Trump or capitalism?

I can forgive Taylor Farms for an occasional outbreak, but they have a history of hiding it, and of bad practices that enable it. And worst of all, the owner gave millions of dollars to Trump! I will never forgive that. I have bought my last Taylor Farms product.

We need to be mindful of other brands that use Taylor Farms products. Produce bearing a supermarket’s own brand may been produced by Taylor Farms. Retailers generally don’t prominently disclose the contract manufacturer.

For all those out there who believe the reason the economy isn't growing is because of regulations, hope you enjoy crapping your pants. So far Americans have lost food protections, water protections, healthcare protections and banking protections. But at least you've got FREEDOM 250

They actually have multiple brands. People have posted extensive lists in comments in this thread. Basically your options are grow your own, or buy whole produce from farmers markets and co-ops, and do the cutting/prep yourself. Which is not easy or affordable for everyone.

Exactly. That’s an important point people often overlook. Not everyone has a yard, the space, or even the climate to grow their own food, especially renters and people dealing with harsh winters. Gardening can help, but it’s certainly not a realistic solution for everyone
