Blacksky @blackskyweb.xyz now has its own servers running the network This means they're able to run their own feature development and moderation policies, while still connecting to Bluesky through the shared Atmosphere network! s/o to @rude1.blacksky.team and the blacksky team for amazing work

Cool cool cool. How do I follow Link over there? They didn't stupidly ban him.

You just have to use Blacksky. His account should show up there

Ah.... See, I thought this was less of a walled garden in that other instances (like Blacksky) could be brought up and users of Bluesky could I dunno... Elect to follow people from their Bluesky account. Sort of like Mastodon but less chaotically done...

You just log into their appview. It’s the same account and you don’t have to move anything.

Oh, damn. Thank you.

no problem. i think they have a fork of the main bluesky app available that connects to their services but im not sure where to download it off the top of my head. imo bluesky should add a setting to their app to change app views, too.

You can't download it yet as an app, but here it is their fork using their own AppView, you just need to login there and it's done staging.blacksky.community

So we have to open it in a browser for now?

Correct On your phone, you can add it to your home screen (both iOS and Android work fine) and use it like an app It's a very similar experience you can do for now

How do I add the shortcut, please?

It can be a little different depending on the browser or you phone - Open the link in your preferred mobile browser - Open your browser's menu (usually it's in a hamburger = button or dots ... button) - Scroll down until you find something similar to "add to the home screen" or "install web app/PWA"

- Tap that and confirm you want to "install" it as wep app or PWA - Your home screen should have a new icon to Blacksky, as if it's an app you just installed - Open it from there to have the closest experience to a mobile app
