This blog post by John Gruber is embarrassing and lame and proudly advertises he's a political halfwit journalists that validate and normalize usage of a white supremacist's right wing propaganda website are feckless cowards who prioritize engagement over ethics

daringfireball.netX Once Again Marks the SpotIf you returned from exile on a desert island and took a look at X today for first time in a year, you might reasonably guess that Elon Musk got bored and sold it while you were away.

It’s so disappointing how many people are willing to abandon any pretense of values just to chase bot engagement.

Gruber takes a break from blowing smoke up Apple Corporation's ass to falsely insist that X is fun, fair, and cool now, and that people who have political reservations about supporting a right wing propaganda website owned by a white supremacist have "lost their minds"

His assertion that anyone who criticizes his facile stance has lost their minds is a sign of good faith engagement right?

I gave up when Gruber started in on "the action", like his mind needs to get X-laid or something for Gruber to journalistically function. Maybe he sees his job is "he said whaaat?" gossip columnist, instead of ignoring the half wits' party games and assessing their actual world actions' impact.

I've enjoyed many of Gruber's posts in the past, but I'm not going over to X to be sure to catch his hot takes. Nor am I interested in the latest quips Apple management. That sort of idolatry is no different than those that do so with Elon. And I'm not interested in spending time on Elon's site.

How convenient for them 🙄. We're not asking people to 'do politics'. We're asking every citizen to take their seat at the citizens' table. Democracy is not a spectator sport. Ours was hard won and can easily be lost.

I'd honestly have more respect for him if he'd just say "I'm losing money with how I'm currently doing things and I have no choice but to cast a wider net, including at X". All this crap he's making up about "how great and inclusive and fun it is" over there is just incredibly gaslighting.

I enjoy checking DF as a Mac nerd, but man, I felt so incredibly stupid reading that. It’s also a pretty wild turn from his tone of posting in the past years about the massive shitshow twitter became right before Musk through the present day.

Apple fanboy who built a lucrative access-oriented career masquerading brand boosterism as insightful tech analysis

That’s not really true. He’s the author of Markdown and, in addition to Apple fanboy ( not the worst thing to be) is a generally thoughtful commentator on tech. He’s like Nate Silver. Could have been somebody were it not for famous guy disease

I can't remember the last time this guy said literally anything interesting of note, and he exists primarily to pretend that access fanboy is the same as journalism, but to each their own

I had the same response, is he a somebody who chooses to become a nobody or has he been a nobody all along? He excels at blistering bad writing if you dare to read it.
