Let me help, make good games, make good money. We are suckers for a game. I have furniture I can drag from place to place, I play games to escape shit like that. What is next they going to sell us insurance in case it gets stollen, maybe extended warrantees.

Yeah was thinking about this, everything being in one engine fixes a big technical hurdle but you still have others plus, as a game designer you just can’t do any balance at all if other stuff from other games gets to exist in your game? Damage, rate of fire, special status? You can’t do it

can someone tell this guy to fuck all the way off next time he runs his dumb fuckin mouth? so tired of every news story in every category just being "rich asshole wants something stupid/impossible that will drain your bank account and make your life worse, one way or another"

They all think they would be Hiro Protagonist the freaking dumb bunnies - get the rich ex girlfriend back, be friends with the Mafia, have a manic pixie dream girl skate punk friend. It’s a fun read, and it’s a fantasy

NFTs tried to promised this and everyone declared that it was stupid, won't work and no sensible developer would do it so it's a good thing 5 years later Sweeney Tim is trying it again when it's still fucking stupid and still won't work and developers still shouldn't do it

Yeah, sure. I'm sure all devs will be fine that you can use cosmetics you've paid money to be used in other franchises. OR, that a franchise will be happy you import another dev's assets into their game... For sure. Naw. That's like fucking NFT or blockchain games. Nobody wants that.

You know, I was wondering why tech dipshits keep going back to this idea (NFTs! The Metaverse!) and then I realized it's because they saw that one mod that replaced the dragons in Skyrim with Thomas the Tank Engine and thought "what if I could charge rent for that?"

So not only will we be getting terrible performance thanks to generative ai, legal instability thanks to it too when it comes to what we make using UE6, but also nfts.. Tim Shittey more like

Can Tim piss off? I'll never support Epic Games, they ruined Horizon Chase 2 because it requires an Epic Games account just to play on Switch. Epic Games and Electronic Advertisements should collaborate to make a horrible game.

Cannot believe they are still pushing NFT game assets. It's like game streaming for failed ideas people keep trying again and again, when everyone knows they will fail every time. And Tim Sweeney making something "open"? Don't make me laugh.

I’m going to assume they’ll say “NFTs solve the ownership problem, GenAI solves the content generation problem” I look forward to an epic speedrun of dark souls with my prestige Maggie Simpson skin taking on the limited edition Optimus Prime skinned boss

The NFT thing was so weird because it, some mechanism to validate/check ownership of an "item", more or less a solved problem; the issue was never that there was no way to do cross-game items, it's that "items" need to be implemented per game and it's likely very tied to genre
