I wonder why they specifically decided to sponsor Godot? I'm sure they aren't making games there 😅

Sentry has a product to sell for Godot developers. It’s probably a case of donating some money so that one of their customer platforms can survive to remain…well, customers.

I imagine for them it's comparatively cheap advertising targeting game devs, similar to the Jetbrains sponsor. And why not also earn some good will in the process? Better than paying for AdSense imo.

That happened to Khronos Group, why aren't there a Patron Sponsor anymore?

Their sponsorship was a one-year commitment, which has now run its course. We’re still in touch and thankful for their collaboration.
