It was a "brief" outage, but still causing problems. It went down at 6:48ET and almost 2 hours later, there are plenty of @cloudflare.social backed services still having issues.

Everyone slamming refresh likely causing DDOS …if there wasn’t already an attack.

The quickest way to explain it is that companies hire CloudFlare to run a server rather than building and maintaining their own. Which is typically a cheaper and better way, but then leads everyone dropping if something happens to Cloudflare.
