Man, Fedora Silverblue/Kinoite was the distro that stopped my distrohopping for good 3 years ago. I guess it's finally time to look into Nix or go think about Arch again.

As someone who is technically in the industry (web developer, but recently laid off). I can't stress enough how bad every AI tool I have used is at coding. Like genuinely it falls apart so fast and requires human refactoring to fix. Maybe packaging work loads make more sense?

This does not sound good. Although the policy seems more like "people will do it anyway, so this is how you declare it properly" So I'm a bit torn. This could mean, that it is more inviting for AI code, or it could mean the AI code that other distros are also getting is just properly declared.

Most people I know use some sort of AI powered boiler plate code creation or context aware auto fill. This is a far cry from vibe coding. I don't disagree with your sentiment, really. I'm trying to see an upside

Seems quite reasonable, what they wrote. I figure certain contributors were already using such tools, now they're basically being asked now for honesty. I wonder how useful such tools could be with something so (seemingly) difficult and complex as developing a distro, though.

People have been contributing AI code to Linux projects for a while now but obviously not everyone accepts their contributions. I guess we will see if the maintainers actually accept these contributions and if this just to help them actually discern what's AI and what isn't via policy enforcement

can't say I love this, I do like the stance of 'no you are responsible for code you submit, it was made by AI isnt an excuse and you will be held to that standard' but I would be inherently suspicious of license claims associated with llm generated code.
