Just wait til Climate Change and this year's Godzilla El Nino slaughters crops world wide... already we are seeing reduced yield potential from the Heat and droughts... even here in Northern Minnesota...

Once the wholesale and retail suppliers get us inured to the shock of the increases, they aren't going to then back down and reduce them.

"Food prices won’t come back down .. " - Duh! The definition of inflation. Problem is when the inflation is created by manufacturers & producers who take advantage of events to squeeze, & as long as US keeps buying their products, keep on squeezing every dime out of US. Our option, boycott them.

This is why we need to leave the abusive relationship and create our own commodity independence. It starts with community and using the power found in your wallet to diligently purchase local only for what you can. To put relentless effort to every action that assists the resistance.

This will require sacrifice and inconveniences were not use to making. Meanwhile, we vote for candidates that vow and have the track record to tackle corporations. This is war, and has been for awhile, so we need to start acting like it. The only minority destroying our country is US oligarchs.

Well…..when you have a global food oligopoly then they don’t have to compete for the consumer’s dollar and can charge whatever prices they deem necessary to increase profits and please shareholders….maybe time for a new approach to food production.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Capitalism: A Love Story is a 2009 documentary by Michael Moore that critiques the American capitalist system, arguing that corporate greed and a lack of regulation led to the 2008 financial crisis, devastating ordinary Americans through job losses, foreclosures, and economic insecurity.

Have food prices ever returned to pre-crisis levels in the past? No, the corporations have just used whatever crisis came along to increase their profits. Our unregulated, unrestrained capitalism doesn’t work. Corporations will continue to increase their price past where the market will bear.

We are routinely gouged by the retail market. If there was some way to fight back I would do it, but we are so limited in where we can buy food. I live in a condo, so can't grow it, live in community with only big box stores, and farmer's markets are in other parts of city only.

Let’s clarify that consumer food prices won’t come down. Raw materials and the cost of production will likely go down (reset) once the shock (war/tariffs/Trump) is over.

Yes - the American way. True cost of eggs: $1.00 Eggs: $2.49 - consumer 😐 Eggs: $5.99 - consumer 😱 Then Eggs: $3.29 - consumer 😅 Then True cost of eggs: $1.00 Eggs: $4.49 - consumer 😐 Eggs: $5.99 - consumer 😱 Then Eggs $3.79 - consumer 😅 Then True cost of eggs: $1.00 repeat...

All of you, go on the internet and find the closest co-op grocery store and become a member. It might be a bit of an adjustment, switching from what you know, but if enough people do this it can change the food industry.

It will be very interesting to see what happens to the prices at the New York city owned grocery stores that Mandami has opened. I would guess that when the costs go down that will be passed on to the customers. This is a very good opportunity for case study on corporate greed.

Couple this with shrinkflation, and you're also getting less for the higher costs! Haven't seen any news about food producer CEOs taking pay cuts, getting smaller bonuses, etc., though... 🤔🤬

It seems to me it will have to at some point or the buyers will all dry up. And that's producers shooting themselves in the foot. Perhaps smaller more local producers will step in to fill the gap. With climate change, it's really more up to local producers to be our go-tos.

Let's not forget that big corporations who control so much of the major food industries like baking, meat and produce, will take every excuse including a lunar eclipse to raise prices.

Only when and if people take to the streets all the people then it stops seen it before in Indonesia dictator pushed it to where common person couldn’t buy rice they beyond reacted and it stopped

Things will soon be a lot worse now that Canada won't be subsidizing the US. 'king donny' forced us to find new trade partners. New competitive pricing for oil, energy, potash, aluminum to name a few. The US is not our only trading partner now, so you no longer dictate pricing. Prices going UP.

Food being a commodity with a shelf life will go down if it sits in a warehouse spoiling. As in they have to sell it or it goes bad. Just saw eggs for $1 a dozen. Buy better and less processed to avoid corporate mark ups. What will stay up is packaging and transport costs

New replacements from old companies that can't make major profits because newér companies seek your business inflation Donald Trump has a way of eliminating itself especially since you already took America's share

I also remember that well. My dad lost his company because the payments on the corporate line of credit became ridiculous. It changed a lot of lives.
