I am unbelievably touched that @dropout.tv titled my @dimension20.dropout.tv Adventuring Academy episode “A Duty of Care”

I’m overwhelmed today, but I want to circle back in a while to share the links to everyone & everything I cited. More soon.

This was such a spectacularly lovely interview. I truly appreciate what both of you had to say and I found myself moved by basically the entire last segment. One of the people I used to organize with was someone I recruited into our committee because I knew their history of running D&D campaigns

You very quickly mention the possibility of playing with time in actual play presentation and I wondered if you had ever listened to Burnt Cookbook Party. They use Pathfinder 2E and have made secret one-on-one recordings with the GM to make background decisions and surprise the players and audience.

It's happened a lot of times but most recently a player secretly changed places with a "time loop double." It's really fun.

this would have beem in Vancouver, Canada, but it was possible we were getting stuff over the air from Washington state. I'm thinking no earlier than 87 and certainly before 94. It was just a one shot or I only caught one episode. IIRC the play itself was pretty typical wide shot of a table...

where the side the camera was on was unoccupied. But they did put a little effort in & there was a little intro video of them running around the woods in cosplay outfits.

As you can tell, I’ve been really looking forward to this, and I’m so pleased that people got this window into not only the work you do, but the care you take in it.

Real talk though, amazing episode and I love all the stuff you talked about and can't wait to get your book next year. As I recover from my autoimmune condition, I'm hoping to get back into the TTRPG space as well as the Esports space (haven't forgotten about that convo we had about the AU program)

These spaces are not just meant for fun but for education as well, and everyone deserves to have access to these amazing spaces to learn, grow, and experience a life (or many lives) lived <3 Keep up the good fight, Doc <3

Great conversation as expected! In particular, I cannot tell you how delighted I was at the barely constrained glee in your face as you presented your Contested Roll argument.

Ooh, I will absolutely set time to watch this! And I think the title sums you up well 💖 (in so far as the vastness of someone can be summed up in a title). So much about the way I have seen you move about, analyze, teach, share, explain, always feels like it's flowing from an awareness of this duty.

Absolutely. I think we can say your philosophy of duty of care is evident, but it doesn't automatically guarantee you'll hit the mark every time. (AKA, I have a deep appreciation of and respect for your work, but I'm not giving you a Golden Pedestal Of Perfection. Feet are firmly on the ground 😉💖.)

Just watched this episode and really enjoyed it. You mentioned the possibility of nonlinear or nonsequential play; has anyone pointed you at the Film Reroll podcast, where they did exactly this when they “rerolled” *Memento*?

I was finally able to watch it this morning having followed your work since grad school!! (and talked w/you on IG) as an English degree holder / current K-12 educator / hobbyist game designer / Dropout fan it was genuinely so cool that this many of my interests were able to combine in one thing.
