Why is billionaire-owned media suddenly coming all at once with pieces against drinking fluids. What is this manufacturing consent for. Is it building toward something. Should I be afraid

they want you to stop drinking gasoline because they want all the gasoline but you cant let them you need to bring the gasoline lattes to the interview to show dominance

Water is generally free, and profit margins on drinks keep a lot of restaurants afloat. As budgets are getting tighter people aren’t buying thing like expensive coffees, the rich need you to consume

Probably it’s the algorithm-driven CEO gripe of the month covering a real symptom if our shitty society, like Avocado Toast years ago. You can’t predict what takes off in corporate-run media like this. If it gets more attention we’ll have to suffer through more of this for years.

My daughter & sister both have medical conditions that need them to haul around a larger sized water bottle w/ them to have on hand, which is a pretty common situation. Now that companies & public spaces are short on water fountains, water coolers & kitchenettes, yeah you have to haul water around.

People often worry about coffee dehydrating them. Maybe they want to sell more coffee to go getters. I don't think whether it's appropriate to bring coffee to a job interview is a debatable question. What interview would care that you had an iced coffee with you, besides maybe Celestial Seasonings?

Because if you’re staying hydrated then you’ll need to take a Personal Needs Break. And you’ll be stealing time they want to carry on overworking you.

Wapo equating policing a woman's appearance with asking a man to not expose people to secondhand smoke is foul, we've backslid so fucking far I swear

The answer: No. Because while he did ask permission to smoke, as well as kiss ladies' hands, he also fought the Nazis (and the Russians).

They have already started. Texass already banned water breaks for workers, even in extreme heat. The far right want to eliminate every semblance of workers rights.

They just want to dissuade us from anything that could be construed as comfort, don’t they? Well, to that, I say: fuck you, billionaires. How ‘bout *you* stop sucking up tons of water for to power all those stupid data centers?

Probably just the pet peeve of someone in the bn-class. Opinion pieces in these outlets have been the r/AITA for them for a good while, except it's more of a r/ImTheCenterOfTheUniverse. It's pretty incredible what kind of petty stuff they get worked up about.

well the latter is a direct response to the discourse of the week regarding like.. people saying gen z acts with complete disregard for their precious social etiquette at job interviews. fun stuff. and then the former is just the sort of article you would see in a tabloid magazine

Why would anyone even engage with that crap? If you want a drink, get a drink! If you don't, don't! Are people really that incapable of thinking for themselves?

If the drink connection is coincidental the remainder is just divorced boomer dad misogyny shit. "Why my teen daughter need specific brand of water bottle?" "Why womans so obsessed with sweetened cold coffee drinks?"

Nobody ever worries that maybe efforts to ban trans people from using the restroom are just the first group to be targeted

i also wonder why the second one is written by someone who is 140 years old

Interview Advice Ladies: Perfectly styled hair. Thoughtfully applied makeup. A tasteful dress or conservative top with knee length skirt. Light perfume is ideal. Gentlemen: Try to shower beforehand if possible. Don't pull your dick out mid-interview.

yeah. I'm not sure if they don't smoke so aren't aware that you still need to ask or smoke so much that they are willing to smoke regardless of those around them

I think it's mostly about normalizing an environement of fear and obedience in the workplace where you have no power. At most about derailing worker protections regarding breaks and such. But maybe they'll find new horrors to prove me wrong, we'll see!

it's probably this one. same way as retail workers are expected to play-act productivity (literally in the case of when someone from corporate visits), people in power haaaaaate how office culture permits the grand sin of not looking like a Hard Worker™ at all given times

all that water youre wasting by drinking? that could be going to starving data centers. think about it, all youll do is piss it away again practically wasting it. when data centers could use it to make billionaires so many extra pennies /s

💯 yeah There's a reason they're excited about the prospect of buying a $100,000 robot that breaks in 6 months to do menial labor instead of just hiring someone for $10 an hour

Motivations aside, that first one is correct. We have created a hydration culture in the US that is nuts. If you want to drink that much, fine, but I wish we didn't give people the idea that somehow thirst isn't enough to tell us when we are dehydrated, so we need to keep topping off the tank.
