tl;dr - sometimes glitches make part of the screen "stick". if you're lucky, it'll stick in 1-bit color and whatever's still moving will blend directly underneath it

On this day in 1999, Cartoon Network aired a 24-hour Scooby-Doo marathon for Halloween. The marathon was filled with little clips between episodes parodying THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT which had been released in theaters just a few a few months earlier. Link below for the first 12hs of the marathon.

Turns out all the things I found frustrating about the GB Operator still apply when using a circuit bent camera sadly. However, it DOES work which feels like a minor miracle

Genuinely impressed with the GB Operator as a game boy camera tool. I did not expect it to function with a flash cart running a custom ROM but surprisingly it all just...works??

I was really hoping to stuff a GB Operator into the 2.0 version of this prototype so I could just plug it in to my phone/computer whenever but it's looking like I'm going to have to shove actual game boy hardware in the box. Honestly that's more fun so, I'm up for the challenge

The main obstacle I've had with this game boy camera prototype over the years is that wiring a bunch of glitch controls into a tiny cartridge is completely at odds with portability and ergonomics. My hope is the GB Operator can at least take the game boy + capture equipment out of the equation

The Flashback mobile app is cool but it constantly wants to switch back to my phone camera instead of just letting my hardware cam be messed up. It's also like 2FPS and keeps dumping my video recordings (hence the screen recording). Still kinda neat even if it's useless to me

ngl I put a lot of effort into keeping most of my Real Life off of here but sometimes it’s a little tough holding myself back from socializing on this social media app

Is it just me or does everything feel really bad these days

Been watching the horror movies that scared me as a kid and I'm finding them incredibly comforting in comparison to the horrors of modern day reality

Walked our dog late last night after a movie and instead of that usual fun "oooh what if the scary guy is out here" feeling I was just gut punched by the immediate dread of "oh man how am I gonna deal with XYZ financial problem" and that disappointed me so much

I'm pretty good with electronics but it is comical how every time I go to fix something with this ipod I break something else

I think I've finally got it working well enough but not without breaking an essential tab on the inside that forced me to hot glue something in place. I'm not proud but it works

To be clear I made enough space to do the thing I wanted to do almost immediately, now I just Kept Going after that

i've set up a self hosted photos server now there's no going back
