Expedition 33. I thought it would be overhyped and a pretty average game and people just liked it because of the studio, turns out no, it was excellent and absolutely deserved all of those awards. That game had me crying in the first 20 minutes!

This is a very old one, but The Colonel's Bequest. When I first played it ages ago, I really loved the way it built the mystery. But it is now also for me an example of really good criticism as then I read a review that really highlighted how messed up the narrative in the game is.

Just Shapes And Beats. It's literally the game that made me think that you don't need to be realistic to make something cool, and also made me think that indie games in general are cool ! I don't think I will be there if It wasn't for this game.

Dispatch. I played the demo and thought "this is neat" Then i played it when it released and it blew me away. Demo did not prepare me for how great it was. Still my goty.

Ocarina of Time, Starcraft, and Hollow Knight are examples where a friend recommended it, I played them and bounced right off, and only later gave them a second change and thereafter adored them. "Love at second sight", I guess! For each, the sequels felt like "my games" and I loved them so much.

Dredge. I would never have played it if it weren't for a game club. I don't do horror games. Then it was excellent and I recommend it to people! It made me consider playing other psychological horror games, though I haven't found anything yet.

Ultrakill, at first I really didn't wanted to play the game because of the ugly graphics and really looked like not for me But couple years later I had to study Ultrakill for game design exam and I found out the game is amazing! The gameplay is fantastic and the art style grew on me ^^

Paper Mario: The Origami King. After little fanfare and presentations that made it seem far from what you’d want, I was so nervous. While the battle system has its flaws outside of bosses though as my main thing, it’s actually one of the better entries and stories in the series I enjoy thoroughly!
