Every visit to Estes Park be like: You either stand in the absurdly long line for a scoop of ice cream in the tiny shop or you walk off the sidewalk and into traffic. There is no third option

Tourist or not some people are just assholes ...you know how many tourists tried to fight me because I was enforcing masking during covid ? Do you know how many tourists come to my city/home and just throw trash everywhere...I could go on and on ...Yes some are great but some are the scum.

This is Venice, although I sort of sympathize because if you live in Venice and don't want to work in tourism you basically have to move somewhere else.

A funny thing about spending a month in Czechia was that all the happy customer service was concentrated into exactly one man who ran the vegan restaurant in Cesky Krumlov. Everyone else hated your guts as was right and proper.

There should be a list somewhere of the best nicknames locals have for tourists. It speaks volumes to the relative level of animosity enjoyed by the tourist

The classic “my industrialist father paid for this place so I would have a purpose in life and stop doing cocaine and living in their guest house, and hoo boy do I fucking hate it,” situation.

Yep, and it’s peak season and I can’t wait for them all to leave. But I do appreciate their contributions to the local economy. Maybe they could just Venmo us though.

The best is when you go into one of those places where "that's part of the fun," but you don't realize it for the first twenty minutes. Then it's sad.

Mm hmm. Here abouts , they want the haints to stay sleepy You have to get permission to see the bloody bullet holes and the house isn’t even where it was then The ghosts are FBI and So Hopefully, the tourists stay in Daytona where they belong

I wouldn’t mind so much if they would quit posting to the subreddit about how they’re moving here permanently in two weeks and if there was any place hiring.

In New England a lot of the people are descendants of people with good union jobs, fishermen and other people who were at least getting by. Now they’re serving lobs bisque to the people who bought their foreclosed family homes as summer cottages. I get the resentment

Some live an hour away from their minimum-wage dishwashing jobs or sleep eight to a moldy one bedroom apartment. They know that these rude tourists voted for the people who put them in daily danger of ICE abduction. And don’t forget the sullen teens who are being forced to work for their iPhones

i admit to being tired of tourists by the end of the summer. we have tiny, busy sidewalks in much of Downtown Boston, and we don't appreciate influencers with 10 newbury street bags just standing outside on a tiny sidewalk like they are in a cornfield in Nebraska, alone.

this afternoon, i just wanted to get inside sweetgreens to get my lunch, and this idiot with literally 10 huge bags from newbury street stores was standing there holding the door open, so that no one could get in or out. i finally just jerked the door out of her hand and moved her out of the way.

When I was young, living near Gettysburg, we tended to resent the "bulletdiggers". They clogged the roads, stopping at every single monument, of which there are over 3000. And they'd come to a dead stop in the Square, because most had never seen a roundabout. And our summer jobs depended on them.

It is worth seeing. Helps if you've read up on the battle beforehand so you can appreciate things like why it was important to hold Little Round Top and just how far the Confederates marched under musket and artillery fire during Pickett's Charge.

even Venice, which has been a "tourist town" since <checks notes> about 1712, still graffitis all over the walls about the damn tourists (tho tbh anyone who actually *lives* in Venice knows they have depended fully on tourists for centuries and is more sanguine, but um protesters gotta protest smh)
