I have felt very little about Lloyd Center this whole time, but I felt this. My daughter is almost exactly as old as Joby was in the first Zamboni video, and I don’t care about the places that marked my childhood (they’re all hundreds of miles away and might not exist), so now I care about hers.

RIP. I’ll never forget the exotic pet shop in the parking garage whose pet owner placed a tarantula in my hand without notice at a point in my life where I had extreme arachnophobia. It completely cured me of the affliction and I’ve been at peace with spiders ever since.

I've only been living in Portland just shy of a year, but Lloyd is where I first started to connect to people here. I would go to the zine meetup every sunday, and now I have the beginnings of weird furry friendships. Seeing Lloyd so jam-packed yesterday felt like seeing how it should've always been

It was where I experienced caramel corn for the first time in my life. Somehow that placed existed before me, thought it would exist afterwards, untethered by the realities of the world around. Happy belated birthday, Cabel
