New official work: Kubo and the Two Strings 10th Anniversary for Laika Studios. Made at Empire Design. I'm thrilled to share this piece which was a joy to design and create. It pushed the boundaries of what I thought I was capable of but it ended up being my most favourite piece I've ever designed.

I, too, would like the numbers to stop

Elizabeth Nolan Brown@enbrown.bsky.social

My 4-year/old just learned about the concept of infinity and is now throwing a tantrum over it. “It’s weird! I don’t like it. I just want numbers to stop!”

grading is truly the absolute opposite of just enjoying things, and it ruins hobbies imo. I hate it.

Your Canadian Girlfriend@yourcanadiangf.bsky.social

Why? Why must everything we enjoy be sealed up with a "grade"? I get baseball cards being put in plastic because you can still enjoy both sides of the card. But a Blu-ray?

my kid started collecting Pokemon cards recently, and within like an hour he was trying to find out how much the cards were worth. I get the curiosity, but especially for things ostensibly made for children, it really bums me out. not his fault; everything is a hustle now. it sucks.

listening to the ridge racer type 4 soundtrack in winamp on a newly set up windows xp machine, while i sort out a dos partition, just to feel something again

maybe the real cure for cancer was the scooby doo with three tits we generated along the way

Nobody wants predictive data models to stop working for the people in medicine. Or translating ancient Pompeii texts. Or the other ways we were already using it. We want it to stop replacing workers, killing the environment, and stealing from artists. Hope that clarifies.

the worst thing about desktop linux is that if you're using wayland, you can't use screensavers. who cares if we need them or not? who doesn't like screensavers? 👎

Very curious to see which elements of Dreams are touched upon here. "UI" on Dreams meant so many different things, extending far beyond what my understanding of a game UI was. It had to be a game, a media platform, a multimedia creative suite and a social network, all crammed onto a PS4.

Announcing my new futuristic arcade snowboarding game that takes place in space! - inspired by SSX, with tricks, combos & boost - gravity bending tracks with lots of shortcuts - equippable gadgets like grappling hooks It's called CarveOut 2160, and you can wishlist it on steam! #gaming #indiegames

I think this is cool for a couple of reasons: 1) It's really cool! Look what this person made on the Playdate! 1/2

Cristina Ramos@saffroncr.bsky.social

I was told you couldn't do 3D on the Playdate, so I did it. Then I was told there was no way I could create exterior levels like those in Mirror's Edge, so I proved them wrong again.

2/2 2) It's a reminder that trying to do seemingly impossible stuff within very tight limitations can still seem magical, when mainstream computer graphics seems obsessed with pushing the ceiling for increasingly imperceptible gains to the detriment of efficient, effective design and art.

Ohhh goshhh *clutches pearls* how could we possibly tackle this? 😩 How about we ban them into oblivion and launch meta into the fucking sun?

oh hey i made this Cosmic Smash stick from the guts of a Dreamcast pad and my dad's table saw back in the day! it's missing a dust washer and one screw fsr but it still looks pretty sharp

Even after all these years I still find the fact that something like *this* was on the official soundtrack of a version of "Sid Meier's Pirates!" incredibly amusing. Only in the early 90s. 🏴‍☠️💿🔊🎶

I played the star fox demo and came away feeling how a lot of Nintendo output lately (since about Mario Odyssey in retrospect) has lacked feeling. all the ui and brand wrappers seem so sanitary and uptight to me. Splatoon is the only Nintendo franchise with any sauce imo.

The thing about social media age restrictions is that it treats today’s internet as an inevitability we all just have to deal with. The internet (and the WORLD) wasn’t like this until like four dudes were allowed to own & monetize as much tech real estate as they wanted. Fix THAT problem.

The CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney, has said that Valve's decision to have disclosure labels for projects on Steam that make use of AI is "really irresponsible". www.gamesindustry.biz/epics-sweene...
