now that IGF voting is winding down I can say that there are not one but TWO really impressive, really good deduction games coming out in the near future. generally a very big moment for the genre but some of the work being done is extremely impressive

I am genuinely astonished at the rapidity with which incremental deduction has gone from "an idea Lucas Pope made a really good game with" to "an idea that's been explored somewhat" to "full blown genre" to "kind of *the* genre interesting work is being done in"

The other is Inkblood, which... jesus just go look at this steam page and look at what this game looks like, and then please understand that the screenshots don't really convey what this looks like in motion, nor do they include the sickest stuff in it store.steampowered.com/app/4114100/...

store.steampowered.comInkblood on SteamYou're an Inquisitor following a trail of death. A cult is at work, your predecessor has vanished, and the region teeters on the edge of chaos. Find the truth. Uphold the Inquisition. Do not fail.

Inkblood is a take on Golden Idol that takes diegetic UI to the most delightful extremes, set in a comically-horrid-fantasy setting that feels redolent of weird alt-animation, classic book illustrations, and 256-color era graphics.

aww too bad it's being published by one of the worst publishers in video games. the sex pest shit is bad, but it gets soooo much worse with them :(
