Like again all the fucking SoFtWarE EngiNeeRs are out here every day insisting that agents are the future and will revolutionize software development on a website that has shipped basically one useful feature all year (the little badge that shows that a post is part of a thread)

Where is the fucking software revolution? Every commercial software product is getting steadily worse, and the more involved in AI a company is, the faster their product seems to worsen. Google search and Windows are shells of their former selves.

Meanwhile there's an explosion in new open-source apps that's very noticeable if you use Linux, but 90% of them are time-wasting garbage with horrible usability or stability problems.

Where's my fucking open-source image editing tool that actually competes with Photoshop? Where's my Wayland compositor that genuinely doesn't suck? Where's my fix for every NVidia driver problem on Linux? You keep saying how great these tools are then making nothing good with them!

It feels very much like you are all emotionally invested in insisting that an at-best marginal gain (at a comically large cost in terms of externalities) that doesn't actually address the real bottlenecks in the way of good software existing is a revolution, because you're priced into it now.

But also, not a vibe coded app (afaik). It was made before the LLM craze began, and I think it would reflect quite poorly if its makers used the huge theft engines to create an arting program for actual artists.

Usually they only make more shit to shove ai in more computer, but I have a fun one, I spotted a brush-based level editor plugin for Godot, but it feels terrible to use, it's nowhere near close to TB and one of the main functions is broken. It's abandoned, as the dev made it under an ai grant.

it is a curiosity little explored or explained that everyone can see how brilliant their vibe-coded or ai-assisted work is, but everywhere that's adopted it heavily has significantly declined in quality. they like to blame it on late stage capitalism, like they're not relying on the same toolset.
