I was debugging a slow router & asked Claudio and it's casually like, "oh, that's just a bug in Linux: they wrote = instead of |= in one of the cases, let's work around it..." And I'm like, "whoa, that's trashy. Can't we upstream a fix?" It's like: "yeah, sure" Now I have to learn that process 😅

is it right? who knows! maybe a netdev person will know. but Claudio is convincingly confident as always

Not netdev but ik @lizthegrey.com recently had a similar learning-the-linux-contribution-process-because-AI experience so she might be able to help?

b4 to the rescue: lore.kernel.org/netdev/?q=f:...

I'm in approximately the same place after my boss nerd-sniped me into reviewing, testing and upstreaming a netdev patch he vibe coded. Mine is about IPv6 route lookups in dynamic ECMP situations. Wanna work together?

I think most of them ended up in Masterdon communities.

Yeah, that makes sense. Maybe I can nerdsnipe somebody there to avoid learning the Linux contribution process 😅

For the kernel, it's via get: git.kernel.org More info here: www.kernel.org/doc/html/lat...
